Mascote Caffe in Vila Do Porto, Santa Maria is absolutely the best cafe in town. It's a great place to stop for coffee, snacks, drinks. Owner Nuno and his wife Tania are very friendly and approachable. I have dropped by numerous times for coffee, snacks,...lunch, and drinks. Some of my recommendations are: burgers, cheese board, french fries,... It has a nice outside patio but inside is lovely too. It is very charming.
Fine for a coffee or drink during the day with tables and chairs outside. total nightmare with noise for guests at the charming blue hotel in this bar/café. opens up to 2 clocks at the weekend with loud music and series-wise quantity, so to remain conscious. in one of the front rooms in the hotel opposite.
Sitting on the esplanade is a relaxing art and wise to start or finish an evening. nothing nice, but the beer, cocktails and coffee we had all reasonable prices. the wide seating set in the free is what really highlights this place.
The tapas are great and the outdoor seating are a great stop for a fast drink with friends before they are serious about their evening.
While we stay at the charming blue hotel, we decided to drink a drink here. we were served by a very friendly young waiter and had two glasses of good quality wine to a very reasonable 1 euro 50 ever. later in the evening we returned. for a digester and ordered 3 macieiras. he said that they almost ran out, but managed to pour three measures, the smallest amount for this special drink we all had vacation. on request of other brands we were told that there was no constantinou, another mostly widespread Portuguese brand. we were offered another more expensive brand. the irony is that the mascote besides the winebar is also a wine merchant with adjoining spatial features (without stocks of these two common Portuguese brands.) two contrasting experiences on one night, a very pleasant and one with hints of a torn.
