We wanted a special meal with traditional Portuguese food for a celebration while visiting Vila Do Bispo and were not disappointed. Friendly host welcomed us without a reservation. The food was delicious (clams in a simple but flavoursome dressing to start; prawn, pork and chorizo stew with rice and a side of veg for main). We asked for a wine recommendation which was delicious and local. The puddings were also fabul... View all feedback.
What Cristiano Sousa doesn't like about A Eira do Mel:
I realise this review is at odds with all other reviews but having been here once before my second visit cemented my opinion that the food is overpriced and not a delicious as made out. If you like stews and heavy food then fine. It is also humiliating to be the only one in the restaurant to be asked to show proof of vaccination when we accidentally left our masks in the car, at a time when you did not need to show t... Nice ambiance, good service and advice, nice (meat) food and superb bio organic red wine! Absolute number 1 in Vila do Bispo.
Beautiful restaurant, great food, lovely staff. 5/5. Why? 5/5 SERVICE Probably the one of the most fiendliest waiters I have ever experienced. In addition to that fast and always helpful. Offered us a childrens chair right away, were always present and quick. Really great! 5/5 ATMOSPHERE and FACILITIES Beautifully decorated, personal and with charm and very cosy. Felt very welcome immediatly, 3,5/5 PRICES Puh, the only downer. I found it quite expensive compared to other restaurants in this area and Portugal especially. BUT, the food is really good and worth it. Although tasty as hell, around 6€ for a really tiny desert is quite something... 4/5 FOOD AND DRINKS Simply good. Not the best I have ever had, but really good. I can recommemnd the soup and the salad, as well as the thuna fish and- of course- the delicious deserts! The ice cream is home made and tastes amazing! I would come back only for this!
Traditional Portuguese restaurant with historical decorations. Food is really great, might be a little bit overpriced.
You can tell that the A Eira do Mel has joined the slow food movement. We ate there three times (had the lamb, the wild pork and the cataplana) and every time the food was excellent. This combined with a cozy atmosphere and friendly service added up to a very pleasant surprise since we did not expect to find such a place in Vila do Bispo. I can only recommend it to anyone who cherishes good food prepared from good ingredients and with love.
