I completely understand why this place has mixed reviews. You either hate it or you love it! I love it. It has been my best Mediterranean food experience. When we arrived the place was empty except from 2 drinking guests, one of who turned out to be the owner. The ambiance was magical terrace on the sea, yellow subtle light, stone house... We didn't have confidence that all items at the menu are available (empty restaurant so we told Petar (the owner to cook whatever he wants for us. That was a terrific decision. His wife suddenly came down and Petar showed us seafood that he caught that day. We chose, then he started to chop the wood for the grill. In the meantime, he cut for us a bit of his own private prosciutto/jamon that he made from his pig last winter. It was delicious! This was all happening while we were drinking local wine with the owner and getting into the mood: The food arrived and let me tell you this it was absolutely delicious! I see that ppl here complain about long wait times BUT If you want to eat real well made food, then it takes at least 30 minutes to make. Get an appetizer, enjoy wine, this is Europe and this is how ppl used to eat for centuries before the frozen food was invented. We had 2 different soups for appetizers (oyster mushroom yummy and tomato fresh summer like . The mussels arrived (on wine, well done, opened , fresh . Finally main course arrived 2 grilled fished and calamari see pics. They were so DELIGHTFUL. Good fish doesn't need additional spices or oil and this was IT! All this delight was happening, while Petar and his friend were singing and playing guitar (croatian songs . Moon was shining and the whole experience was surreal. Naturally, we finished with some freebies from Petar (including desert schnapps which was home made and not on the menu . So guys if you are on holiday and you want to do something special this is it! We all absolutely LOVED THIS! Regarding the price: It is so AFFORDABLE. For 6ppl we paid 1000 HRK (including 2 liters of wine . A night before we dined at some fancy place in the ancient city of Korcula and the food there couldn't even be compared with what we had at Maritimo.

The restaurant has a very lovely view over the sunset with tables by the water and tables on an elevated spot above the road. It is a quiet and beautiful location to enjoy a late summer dinner. This could have been the intro to a magnificent review, but sadly it is not and this is why:We walked past the place earlier that day and saw the advertisement of grilled lamb. We adored the location and decided to try something local. We talked to the staff and reserved 1 KG of meet of the lamb leg. “Off to a good start!” we thought. As the evening approached, we were looking forward to an unforgettable experience of grilled lamb in the sun set. When we arrived we were shown to our table and told that the lamb was not ready yet, but it would not be more than about 30 minutes of waiting before it would be served. We saw the opportunity to enjoy some local wine and sat down and ordered a glass of red and a glass of white of the house wine. The white was ok, but the red was stale. It had a fatty film on top of the wine and smelled stale. I informed the waiter and promptly got a new glass of cold red wine. Although cold red wine isn’t the optimal way of serving it, it was fixed quickly and we continued the wait. 30 minutes passed, people came and ordered food, ate food and left. Not once was there a waiter to check on us, ask if we needed more drink, maybe an appetizer to calm our hunger/anger. After 1 hour and 40 minutes we got our “meat”. The so called freshly grilled lamb meat was scraps of bones, tendons and remnants of tangy and cold meat. It was certainly not 1 KG and certainly not part of the leg, as it was full of remnants of ribs. If you weigh it all together, maybe 300 grams, including bones. As a side, they provided potatoes cooked to pieces and then burned with a torch. Absolutely horrendous. They also gave us a “salad”, which was basically green cabbage that had been chopped roughly and soaked in vinegar. Not edible. The loaf of bread we were provided was ok, but was not provided until we got the main course. It’s like they’ve never had guests before! We asked for some more meat, but they told us they were out. How they can be out, that is a puzzle by itself. We were 1 out of 3 tables eating there that night and nobody except us had the lamb. It was almost as we were punished because of complaining about the wine.If you think about going here, think again. There a plenty of places around that care about their guests and serve great food. I hope this was a one time incident for the place. If not, this restaurant would soon be fore sale.

Here we find the best pizza in the area. Good dough and baked in a wood-fired oven. The service is very nice and the view is simply wonderful!Update: We ate fish foods also here: fresh and delicious! Especially the specialty of the house: Black risotto.
