Osteria Al Duomo - VIESTE

We had dinner in April in this restaurant. The location in the middle of the old town of Vieste is great as well as the atmosphere. I was not particularly convinced by the menu card which is only available via QR code and internet. The service was ok but not excellent as the food. My friend had mixed fried fish and liked it very much. Me homemade ravioli which were cold and not that tasty. Rather expensive for the price.

Antipasti Aubergine with shrimp: Very good Antipasti octopus: served too cold 2nd Mare Mackerel: Good, personally we like more sauce and vegetables 2nd Mare Squid: served very nice with vegetables underneath and a pea-sauce

Trying to be kind here with three stars, and that's for a nod to the front of room. My wife ordered a port dish promising cuts of fillet and pancetta on top of a spinach/bean purée. I ordered local pasta, orchietta (spelling probably wrong) that was, according to the menu, have a good chunk of monkfish draped over the pasta along with some dried tomato and some pumpkin. The port arrived ahead of the pasta and was cooked grey. Reminded me of mom's pork chops. The bacon/pancetta was devoid of meat and, along with the purée, was c o l d. My pasta appears to be missing the monkfish but on much closer examination, there were 10-12 very small pieces randomly spread amongst the rest of the dish. Maybe one dried tomato and 10 slivers of pumpkin. We sent the pork back, and I muscled through the pasta. No apologies for the pork, no inquiries as to remedy, no relief on the bill. Wouldn't recommend to any other human.
