Exc... read more One of the few places open on a Monday evening and boy was it good for me, fantastic 3 course menu very reasonable ,lovely setting by the ancient cathedral. Excellent service and overall a lovely experience.highly recommended by us.Well done Le Cloitre keep up the good work.Vienne is a great stopover en route South.

We were in the room downstairs which is actually cute b... read more We booked a table for 2 on a Friday night. The restaurant is actually nice and cozy for Vienne standard. We were in the room downstairs which is actually cute but there is a tv (i didnt expect to find a tv on in that kind of restaurant). Anyhow, we checked the menu and first thing that came to my mind is that nothing was appealing. I was disappointed at first sight. There are 3 menus and it's not about the price it's more about the lack of creativity or passion u can find. I ordered the expensive menu but i have been told that the main course in it wasn't available. Among all the thing i wanted, the only one i have chosen wasn't there. I ordered then a different main course which was the Lamb Tajine. I'm picky for meat so i asked which part they were using and the waitress (the only positive note of this place) didn't know. I ordered and what a mistake i have made....the meat was simply awful. U dont even use it in a stew. It was only nerves and fat and bones. I couldn't eat one piece of it.If u want to serve a Moroccan dish in a place that has nothing to do with Maghreb, u better know what you are doing or you are digging your own grave. When the waitress came and asked how it was...and i rarely make a mess, i told her that it was one of the worst dish i had in my entire life, that the meat was simply not eatable. The cook's wife came and told us :"we are sorry but today the meat we received wasn't what we usually get"? Why do u put it on the menu did i ask.She left and told us that we could choose a desert for free. I asked for the TROPEZIENNE and she told me that it wasnt available on the menu anymore. It was too much for me so i asked for the bill paid and left. They didn't charge for the Tajine which is the least they could have done. The thing is how this place is still opened i wonder. The competition is fears and by serving food like this there is no way u can last. I'm sincere and never over do it but this place is manage by delusional people cause u can't cook that bad on purpose.We ordered a glass of champagne when we arrived: it would have been good to show us what we ordered or give us the name.The wine list....a joke when you know that Vienne is surrounded by so many great wine (cote rotie / saint joseph / hermitage / cote du rhone...) and here nothing to drink at all.I really wanted to spend good money but i just lost my time the time of my friend and the opportunity for a great evening..it is a no go.
