So when we were asked for a non-smoking table, we... read more When we went to the ETAP restaurant at Operngasse 14/1, we thought the restaurant looked clean and welcoming. So when we were asked for a non-smoking table, we were led to the back of the restaurant and said it was the non-smoking area. She assured us we were only allowed to smoke in front of the restaurant. We ordered starter cold, a mixed starter plate (14,00 Euro) and Tavuk Kofte, grilled chicken dish (10,90 Euro). As we finished the plate, some people started smoking at the table next to us. A man even kept his cigarette away from his table and let them point in our direction. When I asked our waiter why this should happen, he said that they do not really have a separate non-smoking area, which was not what we were originally told. He put the ventilation on, but it didn't make any difference. It was so disgusting. Later we found out from a taxi driver that if a restaurant is more than 70 square meters, they must have a separate non-smoking area. This restaurant has clearly not observed this regulation. The food was okay, but I feel very angry about money for a meal that was ruined. If we knew about smoking, we would have eaten NIE here!

So when we asked for a non-smoking table, we were led to the back of the restaurant and told that is was the non-smoking area. She then assured us smoking was allowed only in the front of the restaurant.We ordered Vorspeise Kalt, a mixed appetizer platter (14,00 euros) and Tavuk Kofte, grilled chicken dish (10,90 euros). Just as we finished the platter, some of the people at the table next to us started smoking. One man even held his cigarette away from his table and had it pointed in our direction. When I asked our waiter why this was allowed to happen, he said they didn't really have a separate non-smoking area, which was not what we were told originally. He did put on the ventilation, but it didn't make a difference. It was so disgusting.We later found out from a taxi driver that if a restaurant is more than 70 square metres, they have to have a separate non-smoking area. This restaurant was clearly not heeding this regulation.The food was ok, but I feel very angry about spending money on a meal that was ruined.If we had known about the smoking, we would have NEVER eaten here!
