We chose this restaurant to end our honeymoon. It was truly unforgetable. From the champagne to the dessert, the experience was great. The sommelier advised us local wines with the cob and the lamb and it was perfect. The waiters were very professional, thanks for...all! We’ll never forget it : View all feedback.
What María Dolores Aguilera doesn't like about Le Ciel:
We were told this restaurant had a Michelin star . We have eaten in many and this did not deserve the star. The food on the Crystal Mozart river cruise boat that we were on was far superior . It was a Sunday night and I think we must have had the Z team. The first course was OK but it all ended there. Badly presented and certainly not noteworthy and the veal was so tough it was difficult to eat, how do make veal toug... View all feedback.
A real bargain for a Michelin-star restaurant to offer three courses, wine and coffee for just over 50 euros. Service was impeccable. The food themselves were average most of the time, leaning on the heavy side. Would love to see more original ideas from the...chef.
We ate here on a quiet week day at lunch time. The dining room is light and airy and decorated simply but it felt luxurious. The room was about a third full at the time, and we received beautiful and close attention throughout our meal....Staff were also very kind about my poor level of German! We had the lunch menu which is three courses with bread, amuses bouches and also mignardises at the end, as well as wine and a coffee. All for 53€, it is incredibly good value for what was on offer. While the entrées and desserts (as well as the bread and extras) were completely Michelin star standard, with delicate and refined flavours, I can't say that about the main. We had the Wiener schnitzel, which for sure was delicious and well done, but... It didn't felt special or creative, which is what I was hoping for here. In hindsight we should have picked the fish, but the idea of a Michelin starred reinterpretation of the Schnitzel was just too tempting. I still have a wonderful lunch here.
We enjoyed dinner at Le Ciel in the beautiful dining room, replete with piano/pianist, in a welcoming atmosphere, not stiff or stuffy. Our server was pleasant and helpful with local wines, and we loved the limited menu with enough choices the pork ribs offered...that night were scrumptious, as was a melon soup starter. Tables are far enough apart for private conversation. Maybe because we had a cheese plate, then shared a dessert, the wait staff had thinned out by the time we were wrapping up and we had to flag someone down to complete our meal and then make payment. A small thing, though it was a lovely, relaxing evening and we highly recommend Le Ciel.
Very nice establishment associated with a prestigious hotel. Pleasant and intimate atmosphere. Helpful and professional welcome. Rich and inventive menu. Very fine and gastronomic meals of a high standard. I recommend it for a great experience.
I was hoping that lunch in le Ciel would live up to expectations but it didn't...it surpassed them. The Grand lunch provided 3 courses with wine, coffee and water for 49 euro's (plus 5 euro cover) but did not stint in quality, choice or portions and...there was even an amuse bouche thrown in. There was a choice of three options on each course and I have to say that the Iberico pork main was at least as good as anything I have had in top class Spanish restaurants. The wine and water was topped up regularly by the excellent and attentive staff and there were even complimentary home made chocolates served with coffee. If you enjoy your food then this is a must book meal and definitely the best value fine dining experience in Vienna.
