Ibis Wien Messe - Vienna

Sehr günstiges Hotel.Für eine Nacht gerade noch OK. Öfter möchte ich dort nicht nächtigen wollen.Die Zimmer sind sehr spartanisch und erinnern an ein Krankenhaus.Bett ohne Lattenrost, WC ohne ordentliche TürDafür war das Frühstück sehr Gut und die Auswahl reichlich.

You are eating at an ibis hotel so effectivley the macdonalds of restuarnets cheap, cheerful, clean and the food is good value for the price.

I ate in the hotel most evenings during my stay in Vienna as it was good quality, good value and easy :

This was good food for the price, not fancy, but it worked, easy to just eat at the hotel and then start the day.

Very often (not always , IBIS hotels have a restaurant in premises with an interesting set menu. However, all those that I have tried in France only serve dinner but not lunch. That is not the case at this Ibis Wien Messe, where I slept the...first night before moving next door, to the ETAP Wien Messe, where I had a much better rate. You may want to read my two reviews about these two hotels if you are planning to go to Vienna (the real one, in Austria! I had lunch with them Tuesday May 22, 2012 because I liked the two course set menu they were offering that day for only 6.80 € (yes, six Euros and eighty cents! . The main dish was a very good Chicken in paprika sauce with noodles and this was followed by an excellent chocolate mousse, all that for 6.80 €. I added a 0.33 liter tap beer at 2.60 € plus a good espresso at 2.20 € and the grand total came to 11.60 €, which converted to $13.15 a/o May 2012, to which I added an extra $2 tip. As usual, after having lunch in an air conditioned nice dining room with big windows towards the street, I went out and had my espresso at one of their tables on a covered terrace next to the sidewalk in order to light my Cuban cigar, before going for a walk at the Prater amusement park, just a couple of blocks from there. Dinner is more expensive, as it is usually the case in Europe, but at that price for a two course lunch menu, this is an excellent value for money in the old continent. Of course, nothing I have ever seen will equal the little Cuban restaurant CUANDO SALI DE CUBA in Madrid, where I had a three course lunch with wine included in June 2011 for only eight Euros and in June 2012 for 8.50 €.
