Today for the first time (as it is only open until 5 pm) landed there and not disappointed. Great and friendly staff that welcome you all together and say goodbye. Food was excellent, I had the beef Udon: silky noodles, hearty broth and delicate meeting, just amazing. The food does not arrive immediately, but takes some time as it is prepared by scratches (soup comes to cook hot, so be careful). Definitely worth the short wait you can use to look around in the tiny business that looks exactly how I would imagine a Japanese Udon Square to look. 5 stars without doubt, I will be back.
I've been a regular customer for many years and the high quality is still the same. Owned and operated by the Japanese family from Kyoto, their homemade dishes are absolutely delicious and authentic Japanese; Unlike other Japanese/Asian restaurants in Vienna, where the food is made western to local/Austrian taste. Kuishimbo is very small, but cozy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You can't reserve to wait for a seat. But the excellent food is worth waiting. In the Esterhazygasse 12, 6. District there is now a 2nd larger Kuishimbo (open June 2018 from the son) .
One of the best authentic Japanese place in the area. There are only ten seats. The owners are very friendly. It's quite expensive, but what's not in Vienna?
This place serves very simple Japanese comfort food. Yes, it’s good. Yes, it feels like something a Japanese grandma would make. And yes, the beef udon I had was genuinely delightful—the broth was rich and deeply savory. That said, for the price point, it feels a bit high for something so simply executed. Given all the glowing reviews, I expected a bit more. It does feel somewhat overhyped.
