This restaurant was selected for us by the tour company. I would guess they won the...low bid. Food orders were given 24 hours in advance so one should expect they would be ready and service would be reasonable fast. Not so. Everything about the meal was slow. It looked like they were very understaffed for the number of customers that they knew in advance were coming. If you order the wiener schnitzel your order came out first. If you ordered fish or chicken, you got to watch everyone else eat and wait and wait for your order to come our. When the chicken did come out it was obviously overcooked. Fish was said to be good, but small portion. Wine was good and you could get a second glass if you could catch the attention of a waiter. Overall, not a good experience. Look elsewhere if you have the option.
We wanted to go to Huth but they unfortunately did not have any seat available. We decided to keep on walking and saw Himmelpforte restaurant, went in and the waiter led us to a table in the basement, it was close to 9pm and there...was only one couple there. We looked at the menu and although we were having doubts of whether to stay or not, we decided to stay. My friends ordered the cheese fondue and I had the salmon. I did not finish my plate, the salmon and the vegetables had been pan fried, the salmon was ok but the veg were too greasy. My friends were given a salad to go with their fondue, the leaves looked like the bag they came from had expired a week ago. Frankly I was quite amazed that it even made its way to our table! the potatoes that came with the fondue were tiny. So to sum up, paying over €20 for melted cheese, some bread, 2 tiny potatoes covered in sour cream and some wilted salad leaves can seem pretty over the top and that is why I do not recommend this place, it wasn't a nice experience.
Vielen Dank
