The food was amazin... read more We visited Das Schick in the evening on a Saturday. It was a late same-day booking on the weekend before Austria’s fourth national lockdown. The food was amazing. An excellent fine dining standard. With a tiny bit more refinement this would be of a Michelin...star standard. The restaurant does have toques on the Gault Millau scale. Just one tiny criticism on the food itself. The butter in the bread course was served cold; it should be at room temperature or slightly warmed. On arrival we were told that we could only order courses instead of choosing from the and course options. This is understandable as the kitchen has to close some time, but should be mentioned in advance of booking. Also, we were told this at but on the menu it says that this applies from It is stated on the printed menus in the restaurant but is missing from the menus on the restaurant’s website. We ordered an Austrian bottle of red wine from the wine menu. On the menu it was stated to be the vintage but the vintage of the same wine arrived. We trusted the sommelier that the vintage would be suitable and it seemed to be a good bottle, however, this should not happen and the wine menu should be updated to reflect the correct vintage. Wine menu was left on the table for some of the service. The view from the restaurant faces south towards Karlskirche. It is a nice view. After the meal we were not handed our coats and went to retrieve them from the coat rack. This is below the usual standard for restaurants of this calibre. Overall, Das Schick’s cooking is assured and excellent, but service issues are keeping it from reaching a higher standard of fine dining.
