On a rainy day the inside cafe space wasn’t up to seating all the customers that were waiting. It was all a bit chaotic a pity as the tea and cakes were amongst the best we had. Tables were tiny and we had to...juggle our plates to get them on! Not the most relaxing experience at all. I imagine on a sunny day it’s much better.
Fresh salad, juicy chicken and good fries. Simple but good. Staff is also great! A very pleasant surprise for a museum restaurant.
I was pleasantly surprised by this bistro, as restaurants in tourist attractions can be terrible. A good range of lunch dishes, mostly around 9 or 10 euros but ranging from 6 to 14 or so. The salad with warm chicken was quite good, very moist marinated chicken and a generous amount of it. The oven-baked gnocchi was also good. The room is nice, and the service was excellent. Try to get one of the tables overlooking the formal gardens.
Since we were at the palace around noon, we had lunch in their café. They have outdoor seating too, but that was all full. Service was a tad slow but the room is nice. quite a hike to the restrooms however. Almost need a map since you need to go through several rooms of the palace and downstairs. This provided a view of some of the palace: empty rooms with boring art on the walls. The only alternative for food in the immediate area is a Greek restaurant right across the street from the Palace. We ate there another day when we were in this area. More variety of food and drinks, but also a three star rating, in our estimation.
