This is a very small, food vendor counter just off of the main Cook Street Village center on Cook Street. It's located in a long, narrow building that also has a Mexican and a coffee counter. There are only a few tables next to Messob, though in the summer you can sit outside. The owner-cook is from Ethiopia, and so you are getting the genuine article here. What User doesn't like about Messob Ethiopian Cuisine:
This is a nice place with good service and good food, but the last two times we have driven into Victoria from out of town to eat there, it was closed. (I had even tried several times to call ahead to make sure it would be open, but there was no answer. The voicemail greeting didn't mention the place being closed) View all feedback.
I love this food and I love these women. Truly delicious, lovely, warm and authentic atmosphere (let yourself sit inside and let Amharic wash over you). I ate the vegetarian combo.
Great, quick, tasty lunch. Authentic Ethiopian food. Simple and satisfying. Good service, quaint place to eat, easy access in Cook St Village.
The combo plate is amazing, and best value on cook street imo. Also the owner is awesome.
This was my first experience trying Ethiopian cuisine and I was quite disappointed. The dishes were bland and lacked any distinct flavors. I felt like I was eating canned spinach and potatoes that had been reheated and tasted like something from a school cafeteria. Unfortunately, there was nothing interesting or memorable for my taste buds. If this is representative of Ethiopian food, I don't think I'll be trying it again.
Absolutely LOVE this place! ? The food is so tasty, and reasonably priced for the portions. I love the vegetarian combo plate or the beef combo plate. Hours can vary (I’ve gone and they have been closed randomly) so make sure you call ahead or have a back up plan. Definitely must try this hidden gem!
