This restaurant cafe/bar by the lake provides a taste of England for many of the ex-pat locals. It does not pretend to offer haute cuisine but the food as as good as many of the chains of pubs in the UK. Wetherspoons etc. Our waitress was efficient and helpful Middle of the range prices. Watch out on Saturday as the live band may be a bit loud. In fine weather site outside and enjoy the lake. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Le Soleil Couchant:
With very few places to eat in the area, an average place for a captive audience. Food wasn't too bad but menu and final product reminiscent of a Weatherspoon's in the UK. The fish and chips was tasty but I could have eaten it twice. Expected a warmer welcome from the British landlord. In terms of location, it is a great spot next to the lake. The alternative option for dinner in the immediate vicinity appeared expen... View all feedback.
Bar newly decorated.Cosy woodburning stove and wonderful views. Great value course Sunday lunch for euros!Main course served with three fresh excellently cooked vegetable plus roasties etc. Good beer, cider and service. Will be taking friends for this soon.
Soleil couchant has an incredible view over the lake and this, in itself, is so relaxing only to observe the small yachts going past and general people watching is fun while they enjoy a really varied menu. the snack menu is varied and excellent for lunch. the main menu offers a good all-round selection to match any taste. highly recommended, especially for their music events that contain top notch players. booking recommended for events, Friday and Saturday nights.
We went here for dinner on Saturday night with our son and daughter-in-law and our grand-daughter who were staying in their motorhome by the lake. It was quiet at but filled up quickly, table reservation is advised. We were made very welcome by mine...host, Paul and his wife Roslyn. It was warm and comfortable and the food was quick in being served by a friendly waitress, it was plentiful, tasty and reasonably-priced. There is a good selection of typical English meals and curries plus pizzas and a children's menu. The bar served Guinness, Kilkenny beer and Stella Artois. I had Jalfrezi Chicken and my wife had Gammon and chips. The evening was enlivened by live Country Western music. A side room had the two, clean toilets and a pool table. Altogether an enjoyable, friendly place which we will visit again soon.
