Great food but could do with a facelift!. The venue is tired, outdated and screams 1980 but the pizzas are great. Yes on the expensive side but I believe you get what you pay for. View all feedback.
Love this place, great atmosphere and location, friendly staff and owners. Here's hoping that things are back up and running soon. Wonderful establishment! !!
Combine an all grain microbrewery, serving a changing mix of their own beers on tap, with some woodoven pizzas and other tasty goodies in the mix, all wrapped up in a chilled location in the Adelaide Hills and you have a very enticing proposition indeed. Grumpys has been plying their trade in this location since 2000, which is an old Dutch liquorice shop in Verdun. Along the way they moved from home brew information and supplies to how the business currently stands, which includes a bottling line to distribute their brews to enjoy at home.
Grumpys has been a long time favourite, a dependable go to venue that our family (including 2 little ones) can enjoy. With the sun shining on a Sunday afternoon, there are few more enjoyable things to be doing that sitting outside at Grumpys, kids riding around on their bikes, enjoying some of their micro brewed beer (they only sell their own) and some pizza. <br/ <br/ Ah yes the pizza. We have been coming over many years and the quality has definitely stepped up in the last couple of years to the point this is seriously as good as any around, in our humble opinion. The grumpy goat, which is a vegetarian pizza with huge dollops of goats curd, is a star, but their carnivore, grumpys garden....just anything really they are all excellent. <br/ <br/ If you have never been there, and you enjoy pizza and beer, do yourself a huge favour and get there. You should not be disappointed.
I had my Birthday lunch here on Saturday, and I could not rate the service and the pizzas highly enough!! As soon as we sat down outside we were offered umbrellas for our table, told the specials, and given some suggestions on how to order for such a large party. We took advantage of the 'party pizza ' special and ordered about 12 for our table! They all came out together and they were so delicious!! The bases were perfect and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I was really impressed with their two vege pizzas! <br/ <br/ Without having to ask a waitress came out and asked how we wanted to pay for the bill. They were so busy but still offered to split the bill for us, suggesting everyone came up in their own time and settled their account and she would cross their names off a list. I LOVE NOT HAVING TO THINK! PLUS I couldn 't decide on a beer so I was offered a tasting of a few that matched my taste! I couldn 't have been more chuffed with this place. I felt like the Queen of Birthday 's inviting my friends to such a laid back, beer and pizza palace. Also there was a super cute dog there to play with! BONUS!
Awesome. Great food, great beer great staff all added up to a great lunch with friends from interstate. Give it a go!
