The food was forgettable. The ever present vendors, wandering musicians and beggers were out in force. The least enjoyable aspect was the three TVs tuned to a soccer match the the sound so loud that is was nearly impossible to carry on any conversation. View all feedback.
Botanas , bebidas y,deliciosos platillos y su famosas tortas pero lo mejor la vista al centro de Plaza Zócalo ,donde escucharas marimba, sones hasta mariachi y norteño.
On our way through Mexico we stayed for to nights at the Hotel Colonial. Since this place was right downstairs from our room we gave it a chance.Like many places this restaurant faces the beautiful Zocalo. There's lots of nightlife, especially on weekends. It was a Saturday, so it was really busy. But we got a table right away. It's a good place to hang out, having a few drinks and watch the nightlife here (Artists, music, vendors...). The margaritas were fine, the beer good and cold. Service was ok, but it's a busy restaurant, so we didn't expect much.We also had some food with our drinks. The menu mostly has touristy "mexican" food and some fast food options. Almost every restaurant here have similar selection and prices...it really doesn't matter much where you sit down.My wife had the spicy Shrimp and I went for a Burger. The Burger was the better option in the end...average, but solid. The shrimp did taste ok...but later on my wife got a pretty bad stomach, not a good sign. So if you eat here, get some easy food I would say. Veracruz has lots of street vendors. If you don't wanna shake your head or say "No gracias" every 30 seconds, then I guess this place isn't for you. We didn't really like the hassle...but it's part of the town. And the more drinks you get, the less annoying it is...This place is not perfect. But it's fine just to sit down and pour down some drinks. And if you, like us, stay in a Hotel close to the Zocalo, it's a pretty solid option.Wanna know more about my trips?
