I went with a friend who is a regular visitor to Venice in the winter. She recommended this restaurant and we weren't let down. We booked a table which was just as well as the Trattoria quickly filled up, with mostly locals than tourists. It was a wonderful meal in fact, the best scampi I've ever tasted ! The service was friendly as well. View all feedback.
What Diana Marchetti doesn't like about Trattoria Da Remigio:
Came to this place for a plate of seafood pasta. Hardly no seafood and saw the kitchen slap the cooked spaghetti into the microwave...Pasta tasted reheated and fish isn’t fresh. The coperto was 20euro, the service rushed and left with a nice suprise food poisoning. As an Italian I say EVITATE. Avoid! View all feedback.
We were very disappointed. Our Air BNB host had recommended this restaurant as one of her favourites. Obviously they only cater to the local population. From the outset the signs were bad. Despite an empty restaurant we were given the worst table in the house. Though we later discovered they had a menu printed in English we were not offered one so struggled through with google translate. No one came near to offer menu advice or recommendations. The wine service was a whole other story and the actual food was very average. Yes we could have left but it was so bad it was like being in a Monty Python skit so we just hung in there to see what happened next. We politely suffered in silence, but now I wish we had left. We only have 3 nights in Venice and now one night has been quite spoiled. There are so many restaurants in the area that welcome tourists, have decent food and do not charge inflated prices. Go somewhere else instead.
The service was spotty. The first waiter to approach our table was quite indifferent. He came to table with a pencil and notepad after we barely were able to see the menu and staired at me, expecting us to order. He seemed annoyed when we asked for sparkling water and some time to review the menu. The second waiter to help us was very attentive. The food was quite average compared to other restaurants we ate at. Nothing bad but nothing outstanding. the cuttlefish black ink pasta was probably the best course we had. We also had a scallop appetizer that was OK. They were cooked well and had a nice olive oil dressing. We shared a fish dish of bream at the waiter's recommendation. the fish was fresh but a bit overcooked and dry. We had a friulano wine that was quite good and inexpensive. Restaurant did seem like a bit of a tourist trap for Americans. The party of 4 next to us ordered a caprese salad, not quite a specialty of Northern Italy. The tomatoes looked horrible. We noted during our time in Venice that finding good quality tomatoes was next to impossible.
This is an excellent place. Great location , classic cooking, generous. Great staff, Highly competent people who couldn’t do enough for you. It’s in Castello and we visited this on the recommendation of our guest house house owner Claudio on Murano. And we were very glad we made the journey. The fish was excellent and they had a wide choice of food and good wine which we could have by the glass. We asked for their advice and took it getting excellent food served by really nice people who were doing their very best. In fact we are surprised to see some of the other reviews here. I wonder were they at the same place! and the breads were marvellous too!
Ottima grigliata e frittura. Personale attento e cortese. Rapporto qualità prezzo giusto. Locale CONSIGLIATO
