Alas we didn't take any photos of this friendly bar/cafe because judging by the photos available online, Crazy Bar has had a make over at some point because it no longer looks as it does in these photos. It has been updated and looks more modern but doesn't feel jarringy out of place in this busy part of Vanice, bustling with tourists, a gondola stop right outside and St Mark's Square not all that far away. We only went for breakfast/coffee twice it was just my wife and I and twice we went with our daughters. There is a good selection of pastries, brunch food such as sandwiches or omlettes and the coffee is superb. Service is quick and friendly and it is obviously a popular place.
Tragedy. We waited for the menu for about 20 minutes. Then 10 minutes until someone serves us. We wanted to eat breakfast, which was advertised at the entrance, but after more than 30 minutes spent in the place, we learned that there was no breakfast left because the products had run out... A normal relationship with customers is missing. Staff with angry faces of those who bother them to serve a customer. Arrogance and rudeness. A waiter dropped a cup behind the counter (things that happen and we laugh about to make things easier) and he turned white as if he had done who knows what. I tried to make a joke to lighten the situation but the owners didn't understand the attempt to downplay a simple incident. Then a customer's request for a coffee after 12.00 was answered in an arrogant manner and with an attitude of contempt because after 12.00 they don't make coffee. I still have this gentleman's expression in my eyes. I don't know how they move forward with this approach. And to say that the place would be beautiful. Outstanding, thoughtful service and good quality food. Our daughter was not well (we suspect food poisoning from the hotel breakfast , and our server thoughtfully asked if she was OK when she didn’t order any food. We explained she wasn’t well and he offered more water. Then, when I let him know she would be in the toilet for a while (and BTW nicest bathrooms we experienced in all of Venice! he offered the table closest to the bathroom for me to sit wait for her, which was a godsend with the great AC inside! I am so grateful to our server and his kindness in our time of need.
