I look for a few different things in a restaurant, first off being the quality of the food. Service, atmosphere and price are also important, and the Eclipse imho is the best restaurant in the region. Great service, direct sea view on the beach, and exceptional food for reasonable prices.

Be prepared... read more Great restaurant at the beginning of the Paseo in Caleta de Velez. Great food, value for money, wonderful staff, attentive without being intrusive. Be prepared to have a long wait when it gets busy, around 2pm, as meals are cooked to order. We usually book for about 1pm, before the main rush begins. We also have the menu Del Dia as it is exceptional value. For two of us, at the weekend, we had a 3 course meal, aliola bread, coffee and 2 drinks for €35? And we left feeling very satisfied. Would definitely recommend.

Having not had breakfast, we decided on an early lunch and as this place had good reviews we thought we would give it a go. There were lots of large tables reserved so clearly they were going to be busy a little later. We ordered from the daily menu, so three courses with bread, all good. Service initially seemed OK, orders taken and drinks brought over, although staff were still cleaning around the other tables. Our first course came and was nice but then we sat there whilst several staff members walked passed without clearing the starter plates, eventually they were cleared. Mains took a while to come out, however I heard the kitchen service bell banged at least four times with increasing urgency and as we were the only ones eating, our mains had been waiting a while before they were brought out. As we were eating the cleaning continued with one member of staff continuing to mop the path right next to our table, in fact she was stood between mine and my husbands chairs at one point whilst we were eating. Looking at a dirty mop whilst eating your lunch is not an ideal experience. Because of this we declined dessert and coffee and asked for the bill, ten minutes later I had to go in to pay and again was asked if I wanted dessert. If you are not prepared to offer your customers a proper dining experience without dirty mops being brandished around their feet, then open later.

If you are in the area, you must visit but be advised to book as it’s incredibly busy.
