the food was great! we have conducted a business meeting and we have tried a lot of their courts. the salmon with carrots was delicious, as well as the pastas with bark (the bark was very tender and juicy,) the white carving was good. The...wax has to learn a little bit, but eating is good. we recommend! View all feedback.
What Tom Russell doesn't like about Atelier:
The food was okay. We met friends for brunch but unfortunately the buffet had very little left when we arrived. We ordered from the menu and it was okay for me. However the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The server was delightful. View all feedback.
“A new innovative catering concept is being created in Wuppertal with which we want to surprise and inspire our guests. Delicious dishes of outstanding quality combine with an extraordinary artistic ambience that invites you to stay and look. Each guest of our restaurant “atelier” in the Elberfelder Kolkmannhaus has the opportunity not only to enjoy culinary delights, but also to enjoy selected art and even to buy them at home. For us the perfect symbiosis is created between upscale gastronomy and extraordinary art gallery.” This is the presentation of the new Restaurant Atelier on his homepage. In the historic Kolkmannhaus an der Hofaue, built in 1898 and formerly the seat of various textile companies, today in city possession and under deserved monumental protection, studios and film teams should be included in the city's will. A concept, which was sometimes not as good as a gastronomic concept. This is now to be revived by the “Atelier”. Art events and live music are also planned here. Good Friday our gastronomic concept for the evening was not established, my wife was striving for old, I was more after a new and just a knowledge of this new place, especially since three days before a clear recommendation was posted on the pages. Well, unfortunately, I must say that I would have listened better to my wife for lukull reasons, but would not have known the unique architecture of the rooms. My call for reservation was unnecessary, “just get it is free enough” I was divorced. The parking lot search was quite simple, apparently everyone was in the Easter freshness, so we were in the adjacent streets. Otherwise, it is recommended to use a garage here. So we stood before the façade of the Kolkmannhaus, took a look at the suspended map and decided to try our luck. We stepped in, there were only three tables in the front part, and were standing around and looking around for service personnel, because we didn't just want to get a table. In the rear part of the spacious premises, the service personnel were probably in contact with us without anyone trying to do so. After we didn't make institutions to sit down, a lady came and pointed us a table at the window front, the cards were enough for us, but forgot to light the tealight on the table. The further service in the evening was quite friendly, but not very present and therefore attentive, as the lady often stayed in the back rooms. The card received various appetizers including Carpaccio, Jacobs mussels, salads, soups, three pasta dishes, two fish and four meat dishes at quite attractive prices. We chose: Appetizer variation Atelier with grilled vegetables, Vitello, and Caprese 11,50 € Zanderfilet on Saffronrisotto 12,50 € Grilled Rumpsteak with vegetables of the season and potato gratin 16,00 € Add to this a bottle of Selters 5,50 € a Spätburgunder red wine, 0.2l to 3,90 € and a Grauburgunder from the Palat, 0.2l to 5,00 € An impressive architecture, a very high spatiality with enormous shelters and columns, a beautifully tiled floor, a lot of dark wood and a lot of contemporary art in large formats, the place makes its name all honor. But I would have liked the big tresses, as well as the seating more reserved. On the homepage you can get a good picture. The table tops individually designed, impact metal I think, like some other furnishings, painted and glossy lacquered, tea lights, small bread plates, what are the children's chocolate candies here? Flower vase, and paper napkins good quality. You sit well in a nice flair between restaurant and beer brewhouse. The beverages were brought, the white wine from the temperature somewhat borderline, but both well drinkable to the ordered food. The appetizer plate didn't wait long, came with a large bread basket with three different types of bread, nicely chewed and a quark of bread spread. The appetizer plate with paprika, aubergines, zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, mozzarella , a little Vitello Tonnato and a number of leaf salads looked good, was generously dimensioned, but in the apron missed the Pfiff. The main lack of balsamic as well as salt and pepper was here. On our request, a salt and a pepper mill were taken. They were really necessary at the main courts later. They came after a short waiting period. The Rumpsteak medium rare ordered looked rather sad, there were absolutely no red staromas and spices, and there was a little dark frying fond, I would rather have been a good herb butter, which could not have had much life for the pale meat piece. As a supplement various vegetables, carrots, broccoli and beans a little imaginary and also fade potato gratin. Only the repeated handle remained to salt and pepper mill. The Zander as a neat very large fish portion was ultimately not completely managed from the portion, the fish was relatively well cooked, but also like the Risotto, which could be imagined as a variety of flavors at Saffronrisotto, missing interesting flavors and tasted very random. 2 Espressi at the end of € 1.80 were tastefully fine, but without crema. Conclusion: Although the service is nice and endeavored, but by no means it can only be better, a good thing would be a little too much, the food is quite inexpensive, but I would like to pay more if they were presented both better and more interesting and prepared with more raftinesse. The price-performance ratio would then be really good. Unfortunately, the focus was on saturation. The ambience ventures between old and modern, which does not succeed in all parts (I refer to the self-set photos with the green carpet). Cleanliness did not leave to be desired. In the end, a disappointment, the interesting ambience could not help over it, Flair did not come up, and it was too empty. Also the kitchen performance could not be satisfied. Maybe laugh at the holiday that was so little off and maybe in the kitchen was just a reserve occupation. It is to be desired because Wuppertal can use good gastronomy at this point. The large rooms of the restaurant must be filled first. Unfortunately, the city's tops have let the nearby acting house come. For example, the cinema visitors of the nearby Cinemaxx stay as guests. I would like the concept to come up and the weaknesses we had to experience were unique. Because there was a lot of investment here, and I don't just mean the money. It would be nice to see sustainable success.
