We are touring Europe on our motorbike. On the N21 through the Perigord-Limousin, we noticed an unassuming sign pointing out accomodations and food in Vaunac. And so we found the Auberge La Sobronade. What a find! Great first impression on walking in. Very pretty dining room, a collection of old coffee mills on the shelves behing the bar. Friendly staff. Menu of the day at 15€ includes 5 courses, water, wine, and coffee. Super deal, but also really good food. My Tabouleh salad was perfectly dressed for my taste, the steak and vegetable fries were super. After lunch a stroll through the little village and its surroundings rounded out a wonderful lunch break!

For Euro15 including wine and coffee with four courses this was outstanding value. Excellent rustic French cooking. Entree was soup or quiche lorraine. Soup (chicken with a nice hit of garlic) came in a big tureen serve yourself with a big plate of croutons again serve yourself. The temptation is to overdo it. Today the meat was jambon and came with frites, baked white beans in a bacon enhanced sauce, and a well dressed salad. Cheese course to follow which we passed on and then dessert a choice of three. Wow. All in a rustic, traditional dining room and wonderfully prompt and friendly service. Highly recommended.

La Sobronade at Vaunac is a favourite eating place of ours. We always take friends and visiting family there as the atmosphere is great as is the friendly service. It is excellent value and the plat de jour is always interesting. The local artisans clearly like it as they are there every lunch time.

Outstanding value at 15 euros, the five course lunch was a thing of wonder! It included a glass of red wine and started with the best vegetable soup we had ever tasted. The second course was a cold pasta dish and the main course was gammon with vegetables. The Cheese Board was as good as you would expect in any french restaurant and the desserts were Ile flottant, cherry clafoutis or ice cream perfect! The service was exceptional (the waitress is a gem, second to none, rushed off her feet but charming and efficient she even remembered us from last year! Not to be missed.
