Menu
The menu of The Grumpy Baker from VAUCLUSE comprises about 60 different courses and drinks. On average you pay about A$10 for a dish / drink.
Grumpy Baker in Vaucluse has received a mix of reviews from customers. While some have praised the bakery for its delicious food and great atmosphere, others have criticized the slow service and rude staff. The bakery is known for its excellent coffee, bread, and pastries, with some customers even claiming that their chocolate croissants are better than those found in France. Despite the turnovers in wait staff, the kitchen and counter staff are well-trained. Additionally, the bakery offers Israeli street food from Thursday to Sunday evenings. Overall, the quality of the food seems to be consistent, but the customer service experience may vary.

What Minnie Brown dislikes about The Grumpy Baker:
How can an establishment that calls itself a bakery serve up the most god awful stale, dry, cold, lump of a chicken sandwich for $15.00? Thats what I had today. I told the waitress from the first bite it was stale. I asked for it to be warmed a bit however it came back the same. Just absolutely hideous chunk of white crumble bread with sloppy chicken in between plonked on a plate. It's made me psychotic. I need to wr... View all feedback.
This is a great spot for breakfast with excellent coffee and tasty pastries. The seating may be a bit cozy, but there's enough space to sit back and enjoy a leisurely meal.
The breakfast and lunch options at this restaurant are consistently good, and there is ample parking available in the area, which is a bonus. While we tried the dinner once, and the food was average, the service fell short. It could have just been an off night.
The Grumpy Baker has come along way since its inception in 2002 with a repertoire of on-site baked breads that are the staple of its core menu. Now in 5 locations, its Vaucluse outlet takes bold moves with its “Israeli Street Food' menu being offered from 5pm-9pm from Thursday to Sunday! Many menus across the Sydney dining landscape feature elements of falafel, hommus, shakshouka and cous cous for example, however the Grumpy Baker can now claim to be the only one to specialise in Israeli cuisine
The new Israeli Street Food concept menu at the Vaucluse outlet of the old Grumpy Baker brings back nostalgic elements of the past while introducing a unique food story that sets it apart from other Mediterranean specialty venues in Sydney. From baking and pickling to slow cooking meats and vegetables over a charcoal woodfire oven, this store offers a cuisine that is not commonly found in our city. One standout dish was the Eye Fillet filled pita with Chimchurri, featuring perfectly cooked meat with a smoky flavor from the oven at the center of the space. For dessert, the watermelon feta provided a delightful contrast of salty and sweet flavors, ideal for a refreshing summer treat. Special items vary daily, with options like a lamb 'kofta-like' mince kebab wrapped and cooked on a cinnamon stick, offering a unique blend of sweetness and smoke. Freshly made mint lemonade served as the perfect thirst quencher. The service is friendly, courteous, and efficient.

It spans the middle eastern flavours and it was all tasty. It would be ideal for grazing amongst friends and family. It has a laid back vibe.
