I couldn't be more impressed! I had heard that they serve gluten-free batter, and I tried the snapper squid rings in that batter—it was absolutely divine. The kids had the regular fried snapper and said it was great as well. We enjoyed our meal so much that I lost track of time and suddenly realized it had been 20 minutes since we arrived in Dunsborough. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. I would de... Currently in the area on holiday and decided to give this place a shot. Service was friendly and welcoming, didn 't have to wait long either. Unfortunately things fell apart when it came to the quality of the food. Fish was covered in a thick dark yellow batter that was soaked in oil. Their home-made English chips were thin, wrinkly and very sad looking. Things only got worse as we woke up the next day and half of our travelling group were overcome with the most violent diarrhoea. Definitely avoid if you 're after good quality fish and chips.
Highly recommended. Finally a really good fish chips shop, pity it's so far from Perth otherwise I would've been there at least weekly as a minimum. Service was excellent. Battered fried mussels was a first for me but wow they were brilliant. It was like a blast from the past to have soggy chips the way we used to get them in South Africa (so hard to find here in Australia, couldn't find it on trips to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Gold Coast either), proper hand cut chips absolutely drenched in vinegar to enhance that soggy flavour. My Aussie mates don't understand soggy chips really it's something only English and South Africans understand. Both portion sizes for fish and chips were extremely generous and great value for money. We had grilled and battered fish both were perfectly done. Quality food served with love and passion from beautiful owners who care about their customers.
Well, the chip options said English chips and something about being fresh and from a farm and homemade... the results were a bunch of old warmed up, kind of weird brown wrinkly chips hoping for a second chance at life. And as for the aioli, well I got my vinegar fix for October. That’s all.
Me and the other half had popped down south for a few days over a weekend, and needed to go to Coles. I was extremely pleased to walk past this chippy! As an English person, you cannot fathom the excitement that rose when i read English fish and Chips served here. Of course, I nearly ordered one of everything but decided against it and that my eyes were not as big as my belly. We ordered a bag of english chips, battered sausage, battered fish, gravy and curry sauce (because who can decide between the two? We had to drive 20 mins back to where we were staying but even then the food was still delicious. 100% next time i'm down again will go back!
