Lido The Beach - VARENNA

On the day we were there it was grey, overcast and windy. Nonetheless, that was still more appetising than the food in our opinion. I at least TRY to find some genuine, legitimate positives to say about most places, because I 'm aware that you 're talking about people 's livelihoods when you write a review. But on the other hand you aren 't doing anyone else any favours if you bury reality. A tourist may go to a place, have a really awful meal at one cafe, hold it against the entire town, and never return. Other businesses in the town suffer. And certainly the tourist him or herself is done no favours when they rely on reviews that paint an artificially rosy impression about a place. However I honestly can 't find a good word to say about this place, except perhaps that the view would be pleasant on a day with better weather. The four of us ordered various panini. I ordered what was supposedly a classic prosciuto e formaggio panino. Apparently classic in this case means two slices of dry, sliced white bread, lightly toasted and barely warm to the touch, with a sliver or two of fairly tasteless ham, and cheese that I suspect may have been produced by Goodyear. I 'm not sure how that is defined as a classic unless it 's by the standards of the Redfern railway station snack bar circa 1972. Nobody had an even remotely positive thing to say about the food that arrived. It was not inedible, but we all found it to be completely tasteless and unappetising. In Italy you expect a very high standard of food. None of us thought that this meal was on the same continent as that. This could be a very appealing place to eat, but in my opinion it needs management to stop treating it as an if we build it they will come site, with no effort required on their part. Should I return to Varenna, I certainly won 't be coming here again at this point.

I was with a small group tour group, and this restaurant was prearranged. The staff was ready for us and the specified time, and the tables and menu were ready. We were able to choose from three items. I chose the vegetarian lasagne. We all thought that the food and wine were great. The dining room was lovely, and the staff were extremely efficient. Great tiramasu as well!

Le lasagne sono buone ma la porzione è sufficiente solo per un gattino. Il panino con il crudo è buono. 3,8 sembra una valutazione media (aprile 2022). Il cibo è buono, ma le porzioni sono piccole e i prezzi sono eccessivi.

My family I wanted to have a beer pizza before we left Varenna on the train so chose this restaurant for its location. We were sorry we didn’t walk a little further as the service was very slow and the pizza’s were terrible. Heavy bread base, like a bad frozen pizza from a supermarket. Good location for a drink as long as you are not in a hurry!

In the last 18 months this Lido has come under new management and for some bizarre reason they have removed all of the sun loungers so now there is just a dusty gravelly patch to lay your towel down on if you want to lie in the sun. Such a shame as this place has great potential that they don't seem to realise.
