Le Moulin de Varen

Its my birthday and we decided to celebrate it with a meal at Le Moulin de Varen, a restaurant we chose because of the great reviews I had read on Trip Advisor. What a great choice.The restaurant came under new ownership three months ago and clearly those new owners are making a big impression and I can understand why because the meal we have just enjoyed is as good as, if not better, than anything we have had in France the many years we have been coming. It was truly excellent.The location by the river is lovely and the restaurant both internally and externally has a wonderful ambience. We ate outside on what has been a beautiful French evening.You are not overwhelmed by choices on the menu but for me this is always a positive as it makes course selection much easier. For us, we both started with the Terrine de campagne which I followed up with Supreme de poulet on a pomme puré à la tapenade with pak choi. My other half had the Filet of plaice with artichokes, green beans and a sauce vierge à la tomate. Both were superb.We finished with Crème brûlée and a raspberry sorbet. A lovely touch was them adding a birthday candle to my own dessert.Based on our experience tonight, I would recommend anybody to try this restaurant because if this is the quality of food that they serve, you won't be disappointed. Our first visit back since this restaurant re opened under new owners. What a nice surprise good food attentive service and an excellent choice if local wine Will return next week

Had a super lunch with friends this week. Excellent fish, wines and dessert. Price/ quality superb. Nathalie and Patrick who run in are doing a fantastic job!

We dined here based on a recommendation from local Australians who said the food is good and the surroundings beautiful.

Our 4th visit was for lunch, just the two of us, and this time we ate outside. The choice was excellent, as always, and one had the menu du jour and the other main course and dessert. Presentation was excellent, sauces and soup delicious, desserts delicious also and excellent local white wine by the pichet.Our second visit last week was for dinner with friends, and this time we ate inside as there is a lovely view of the river and also air conditioning.Again, superb choice for all courses and we all thoroughly enjoyed our choices, and again excellent white wine.Taking our guests/being taken by our guests is luckily becoming a much enjoyed habit.
