Willy's Drive-in - Vandalia

This little diner-style place has a great burger. They are very thin, so at least one dbl chz. Crispy and still juicy. We also had a taco. It was easy, but delicious. They also had breakfast, but we didn't get any. It looked great. The fried mussels are brilliant and so is the cauliflower. I had a reub at the second time I came here. It was good. The mushroom Swiss burgers had excellent taste. The Swiss cheese made the sandwich.

This diner has been there since 1957 and had several different names, but the current owner has tried to keep things as retro as at the beginning. The staff was a smile. They serve everything fried, even vegetables. The reuben was delicious. Tenderoin was easy. They serve alcohol. Prices are on average cheap. We plan to come back when we go through and try new things! They take no cards and there were no visible signs as such. You have an ATM with a $3 service fee. That was the only drawback of the experience.

The food is really good for what you pay, so if you want a good value for your money, this is the place. All good burgers. The Pattys are thin a la Steak N Shake, so if you have an appetite, you get a double. decent pommes, but you should know that they are served unalted. Surprisingly good roasted cauliflower. This place definitely has its hard followers and I can understand why.

About a year ago, this is my favorite. Food is delicious and affordable, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is attentive. They make distinctly back home type work so could grind a minute for them back to you, but they never just leave someone hanging. You also take maps now, I have seen older reviews, which on the contrary say, but do not consider them. Altogether only a great place to have a bite and relax.

Classic American diner food. Good prices, kind staff with a small-town appeal. I'd go back. Try the Big Willie.
