Was Anonym at Shaktea a mag?
Great place on Main Street to sit and have a nice, quiet cup of tea.Shaktea has a certain calm ambience that is hard to pin down. It is one of those rare places where you can truly relax in the middle of the city.Oh, and they make great tea as well. My rooibos chai latte was very tasty. I wish there were more cafes like this in the world. View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Shaktea:
Mexico City location has decent tea selection but poor customer service ... It took a really long time to get served and was a bit disorganized at the Chinese New Year celebration when we went. View all feedback.

Came here with my mom using a Social Shopper coupon for high tea, regular $16.50. She had originally bought 4, but after emailing several times, they said they could only schedule in a reservation for 2 people at 12:30. Our server was nice and we each gave our order. I had the creamy earl grey while my mom had the raspberry vanilla. Decent tea. The high tea portion came out with the typical three plates stacked on top. Top plate had three small dressers - a caramel macaron, lemon square, and blackberry cheesecake, all delicious. Then had a pecan pastry and scone with cream and jam. Lastly, I had ham and brie on a crumpet, which was just alright. It was good but definitely not worth the original price.Anyhow, around 1pm, we noticed an empty table of four that had been vacant and we were commenting that we could have used the table had they let us accommodate 4 of us. Then, a couple came in and asked if they could sit at the vacant table and the cashier said yes, as long as they were out by 2pm. We were upset as we could have been out by that time with 4 of us had they let us have that reservation! After our meal, my mom went up to the staff to talk about the remaining 2 Social Shopper (deal closed on Monday, but they are not open Monday and could not schedule anything more for this week, even though we had been emailing them since last week). We were then told to wait for Nathan, who seemed to be prepping the food right in front of us. He told us to wait while he prepped. We waited for 15 minutes while he was very clearly just prepping the food and washing his hands, not wanting to deal with us. The entire time we could see him and he could see us wanting to talk to him, but it was like he wanted to ignore us - the worst customer service. Deal with the customer first then the food. Finally when he beckoned us over, he said sorry he couldn't do anything and called his coworker to do all the explaining, turning his back and returning to prepping the food! At the end, they said they couldn't accommodate any reservations and to talk to Social Shopper. We will not be returning.

At $16.95 for the high tea, I think was reasonably priced for the selection of sweets and savouries. I like that you can sample a few of their teas before you decide on which tea, however I didn't like that there was only one time refill option. They have a wide selection of crumpets to choose from. I tried the croque monsieur which had slice of ham and cheese and some djon mustard, it was quite tasty. The scones were surprisingly one of the best I've tried! Flaky, buttery and still a bit warm. But they were a bit stingy on the jam and cream, there wasn't much to go around on the scone. Overall, I found the savoury items were better tasting than the sweets. I felt the sweet items like the macaron and the choco truffle was too sweet and didn't develop much flavour.

Pathetic high tea. Some of the sweets were good, but the portions are tiny, and the savoury items are honestly kind of gross: canned salmon and packaged ham, anyone? Service was weird, being super slow since only one person was working there and he had to wash all the dishes by hand apparently. Tea was good, though there are no descriptions about what the flavour of anything is on the menu. Save your money.
