I tried the beyond sausage hash at this restaurant and it was amazing! Typically, I have to customize my order at non-vegan restaurants by removing cheese, meat, and dressing from dishes like fries or salads. However, I was excited to find that this restaurant offers more vegan options. I can't wait to try the other menu items.
It seemed like our food took a long time to come to the table, I'm not sure exactly how long, but I had nearly finished my $11.50 glass of wine (which wasn't that great). I would not recommend the gluten free flat bread pizza, it tasted gluten free and required a lot of chewing (my jaw was sore at the end). Be forewarned that this is a very family oriented restaurant it seems if you come after 8:00 there will be a lot less children running around.
The food here is fresh, tasty, organic and great for vegetarians and kids. We generally feel 'nickel and dimed ' when we go here though. The extra charges for mayo to go with the very small veggie plate, or some olive oil to liven up the dry flatbread pizza crusts, seems over the top. I wonder if they will also be charging for the ketchup? Thinking about how all of the hidden extras might be adding up detracts from the experience and disappoints. Shame, because otherwise it 's a fun place to go. The large space can be drafty and cold on tables near the door, best to sit near the oven!
We enjoyed food and had good service. But the family side of the restaurant was freezing. We rushed through dinner and left very cold. Sadly, not a great experience overall.
Today I was invited as the plus one of @pickydiner, tagging along with his invitation to a spring long table dinner at “Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co”. The visit left me wondering why I have never visited any of their locations until today. This dinner was created to showcase wild foraged foods and their natural health benefits. Vegetation found in BC’s wild that you can collect yourself and prepare yourself. A great bit of knowledge to have in survival situations. But why worry about what you can eat and how to prepare it, when you can simply head down to “Rocky Mountain” and take advantage of Chef Oliver Zaulauf’s expertise. Continue reading to see how he makes these foraged “weeds” more that just palette-able.
