Nuba

Nuba
4.2 / 5 (8931 reviews)

Description

Nestled in Yaletown, Nuba offers a charming atmosphere and attentive service, making it an inviting spot for both romantic dinners and casual gatherings. While many dishes shine—like the crispy cauliflower and expertly seasoned Mantı—some diners noted that certain offerings fell short, particularly in authenticity and taste. Concerns also arose regarding the handling of gluten-free requests, prompting calls for better staff training on dietary restrictions. Nevertheless, the majority of guests praised the inviting ambiance and delicious Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, leaving a lasting impression that beckons a return visit for future culinary delights.

Fantastic food at Nuba. There are many locations but I seem to come back to Davie street the most often. Vegetarian options are wonderful. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented.

The dining room at Nuba yaletown is quite small, so be sure to go early if you don't want to wait. <br/ <br/ Nuba's 4 locations have consistently been amongst the most talked about restaurants in Vancouver. To be honest I'm not so sure why theres so much hype built around it. Their drink list was pretty disappointing and the food, although flavorful was underwhelming. My friend and I ordered the le grand feast which came out as a series of dishes, all of which couldn't quite fit on our tiny table. We enjoyed the flavour of everything however, the lamb and chicken were extremely over cooked and dry. Luckily they were served with lots of sauce and hummus to make up for it. Service was casual, almost too relaxed in my opinion.

In my enthusiasm to try a lot of things off a restaurant menu, I typically; a order too much and take a lot of food home (no problem or b order too much and eat too much (not a fan of this unless I can take a nap , so I love it when there is a sampler on a restaurant 's menu. My partner and I ordered 'La Feast ' at Nuba one Saturday afternoon and were able to delight in a good number of Nuba 's appetizers and specialties. As a bonus, La Feast is a vegetarian offering (there is a carnivorous option . The first plate came and we enjoyed Hummus, Baba Ghanooj, pickled cabbage and Tabbouleh (taken by itself this is called 'Le Petit Feast ' on the menu and is a worthy way to start any meal , with whole wheat pita. For any who are not huge fans of eggplant, Baba Ghanooj can be a revelation and this was a fine version. It was smokey and rich and perfect for scooping with the pita. The next platter came with many more items to try. My partner loved the crispy cauliflower with its lovely tart zing. The lentils and rice (Mjadra were also very nice with smokey middle eastern seasoning. The falafel while being nicely spiced and crispy were a little dry. We dealt with that by eating it with another eggplant concoction (I was not able to identify it but it was excellent but falafel needs some kind of sauce for sure. Accompanying this were a sample of olives, an excellent Feta and a green salad. We had coffee (cold day which came in lovely big cups and reminded me of having 'un bol de cafe ' in Montreal many years ago. I have not been to other locations of Nuba but this one is light and airy and comfortable. Your neighbors are a little close but I like to see what other people are eating. Service was friendly and efficient although we were promised more pita which never arrived (really?...I have to mention that? . Nice little downtown place for lunch where you can eat healthy (vegetarian if you chose.

I really like Nuba. I’d been to the one in Gastown a few years ago and remember enjoying it. The Davie Street location is also very good. It’s clear the staff understand celiac disease and cross-contamination. The food was delicious and I didn’t get sick.

We grabbed a takeout snack of halloumi from here, and it was great! The only gluten in the restaurant appeared to be the pita, flatbread, orzo and tabboulleh, and they were happy to mark for celiac and change gloves. Very yummy!
