Having been in several izakayas in Japan, this is the best izakaya I've been to in North America. Asahi on tap. Here's what we ordered: started out with three kinds of sashimi: ahi tuna, yellow tail and salmon. As much as I adore tuna and salmon, the yellow tail just blew me away. Also ordered the karaage, which I thought was excellent. Came with a little saucer of salt that was just perfect. Next was the tan-tan noodles. The broth was amazing. I could see just having a bowl of this on a cold night and being done - so good. I am a big fan of shrimp tempura, so I ordered that, while my wife ordered the Kobe beef. You cook the Kobe beef on a stone to the degree you want it done. Honestly, you don't even need the sauce - it's incredible. Melts like butter in your mouth, as Kobe beef does. The shrimp tempura was the let down of the meal, but we were so high from how great everything else was, we skipped it. We finished with the pressed mackerel sushi, which was amazing to end on. The whole thing is blow-torched, even the salmon roe, so it had a smoky flavor to it, topped with fresh scallions.
We had a reservation at 6:00 pm and the place was full. Book ahead. The food was varied and delicious. The beef tongue and corn on the cob are a must. You won't be disappointed.
Buenísimo restaurante japonés, ambiente agradable. Los platillos son abundantes y bien presentados, pero el precio no es demasiado caro.La comdia está muy buena y los postres son exquisitos.La atención del personal es buena.Ampliamente recomendado!
We were seated promptly due to having a reservation. The staff were friendly and quick with their service. The food was delicious! The stone grilled Kobe is a must (we ended up ordering 2), the tan-tan noodles is also an amazing dish. The pork cheek wasn’t so memorable but we would love to come back and try more food.
Went here as recommended by a friend. All the foods we ordered were great from presentation to texture to flavor. See description on each photo below. Had a video of Kobe beef on hot stone but looks like Google doesn’t allow uploading video anymore. Didn’t have to wait since we called in advance to reserve a table.
