The cafe near my office is a convenient spot for a quick bite, so I decided to try their food. I have enjoyed drinks there before, but this time I ordered the chicken souvlaki skewer with Greek salad, tzatziki, and pita. The lunch cost me just over $10 after tax. The chicken skewers lacked seasoning and seemed pre-cooked, lacking freshness. However, they were decent compared to fast food. The Greek salad was visually appealing with a tasty balsamic dressing, but the rice was bland and dry. The minuscule portion of tzatziki was disappointing, lacking garlic and flavor. It resembled thick sour cream with a hint of non-Greek yogurt, missing the essential ingredients. Overall, I was let down by the lack of flavor in the meal. Adding simple ingredients like salt, pepper, garlic, and lemon could have easily improved it. If you prefer bland food, this place might be for you. Otherwise, I would recommend trying the food truck outside for a more flavorful option.
Java Express is located just downstairs from my office, so I decided to try their food since I've often grabbed a drink there without issue. This time, their special was chicken souvlaki skewers with Greek salad, tzatziki, and pita for just over $10 after tax. The chicken skewers lacked seasoning and spice, and since they were pre-cooked, they didn’t feel fresh—though they were still better than typical fast food. The salad was pleasant, with a nice balsamic dressing and plenty of cucumber. The plain rice was dry and bland, and the tzatziki portion was tiny, almost like a thimble. Unfortunately, it was the worst tzatziki I’ve ever had—completely lacking flavor, spice, and any garlic. It tasted like thick sour cream mixed with non-Greek yogurt, missing the essential garlic and cucumber. I actually preferred eating the pita plain to avoid the tzatziki. Overall, the meal fell short of expectations. A little salt, pepper, garlic, and lemon would have made a huge difference, and these ingredients are inexpensive. If you’re okay with very bland food, this place might work, but for something more flavorful, I’d recommend checking out the food trucks out front.

This particular Java Express is run by a local couple who put a lot of love into their work. The sandwiches are so so so good and I can honestly say I look forward to coming here for them, and the comfy chairs :
