The Fish Counter, a local spot in Vancouver, was once a long-time favorite but has recently taken a turn for the worse. Customers have reported issues with the service, including rude and sneering staff members, as well as inconsistencies with food preparation and missing ingredients. Despite the decline in quality, the restaurant still offers gluten-free options, with separate fryers for safe preparation. Customers with Celiac disease have praised the establishment for their knowledge of allergens and the availability of safely gluten-free meals. While some patrons have had positive experiences in terms of food quality and portion sizes, others have been disappointed by the lackluster offerings. Overall, it seems that the Fish Counter may no longer deliver a unique and outstanding dining experience as it once did.

Fantastic fish shop! Very casual! You can eat at the bar looking out the window. The food is insanely good. The fish is incredible fresh and delicious. Went twice, I had the fish n chips and the oyster po boy. Both were fantastic! Highly suggest! View all feedback.
What Hani Ahmad Dalati dislikes about Fish Counter:
The restaurant is acceptable and nice. And eating is okay. The French fries served with the meal were not good and were dry and small. The oil was evident in the potato and fish meal and was not well dried. Thank you and I wish you success. View all feedback.
I recently had the pleasure of indulging in a plate of fish and chips at a local eatery, and I must say, it was a delightful experience that took me on a nostalgic culinary journey. The star of the dish, undoubtedly, is the fish. The fillet was tender and flaky inside, with a satisfyingly crisp and golden-brown batter on the outside. It was clear that the fish had been freshly prepared, contributing to its succulent texture. The tartar sauce, on the other hand, was tangy and creamy, complementing the dish well. Considering the generous portion size and the quality of the ingredients, the dish offered good value for money.

Really enjoyed the cod fish and chips. Loved that their fries are fresh handcut fries. The fish was very fresh looking forward to trying other fish types and items. We ate on the bench outside with our dog and it was the perfect casual dinner.
I enjoyed my visit to The Fish Counter Main Street in East Vancouver, one of the three lower mainland locations, this one on 22nd and Main St. They offer sustainable seafood and freshly prepared meals. I enjoyed the Oyster Poboy and fries while my guest enjoyed the Salmon and Chips. Service: Dine in Price per person: CA$10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
