Feedback
The restaurant in question has received mixed reviews, with some customers expressing frustration with the service while others have enjoyed the food and atmosphere. One reviewer had a negative experience with a rude hostess who seemed to look down on English-speaking customers, leading to a warning of poor service for non-Chinese speakers. Other customers found the food to be okay but not exceptional, and noted that the portion sizes have been decreasing over time. On the positive side, there were compliments for dishes such as the Singapore vermicelli noodle, fish ball rice noodle soup, baked Portuguese chicken rice, and sautéed shrimp with scrambled egg on rice noodles. Some patrons appreciated the authentic feel of the restaurant and the accommodating staff, especially when explaining unfamiliar menu items. Overall, there were recommendations to try the restaurant for its classic Chinese food, generous portions, and tasty offerings, with a mix of positive and negative experiences reported by diners.
The last time I visited Gloucester must have been a decade ago. We came here on a quiet Tuesday morning to relive our memories of breakfast. The congee and XO stir fried radish cake did not disappoint. The HK style tea was just as good as I remembered it to be.
Came here 2 days in a row! They have mini sets in the mid afternoon and also at 9pm, they serve the mini meals which includes a drink. Great portions and tasty food. We ordered the Russian borsch, chicken laksa, olive fried rice. We also ordered a pasta and peppercorn steak with a mushroom sauce that was on their special menu which was not part of the mini set but it was delicious! And Cindy, our server was very friendly and had great recommendations on what to order!
Yesterday I went for dinner with two friend to the “Cafe Gloucester” at Cambie Street. The selection on te menu shows a fusion between Chinese and Western cuisine. I ordered Baked Prawns in Cream Sauce

Cafe Gloucester makes red bean with ice right, the way they should be made and the traditional HK-way. The portions are decent and my favourite things to order here are definitely the baked pork chop on rice, curry beef brisket, and their French toast. We always leave with our appetites satisfied : Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
