Café Ami - Vancouver
Café Ami
Description
Located in the HSBC Building, this small café offers rotating free public art exhibits and a mesmerizing 90 ft swinging column. On the ground floor of the Jim Pattison Pavilion at VGH, it provides a welcoming atmosphere with efficient staff and delicious snacks. Known for giant cookies and open late, it's a perfect place to escape monotonous hospital food. While some may find it a frequent stop during hospital visits, others appreciate the warm ambience and free delivery service within the hospital complex. Overall, a charming café with unique attractions and tasty offerings.

This café is conveniently located on Level 1 of the Jim Pattison Pavilion (Vancouver General Hospital) and offers a welcome break from the hum drum hospital fare. While I usually drop in for a cup of Joe and a quick snack when attending the hospital for out patient services, this café really shines in that it offers free delivery within the hospital complex. Typical offerings are entrees (about $7), salads, cookies, breakfast pastries and the like. Major credit cards are accepted and the hours of operation are from 6:30 AM until 11:30 PM
We come here regularly to meet customers working at the hospital. Nice open space, great pastries, and great coffee. Great location right in the hospital.
On the ground floor of the HSBC Building, you will find this small café serving coffee and simple sandwiches. But you don’t really come here for that. Instead, you come here for its rotating free public art exhibits and the permanent “pendulum column.” Designed by artist Alan Storey, the 90 ft high (27 meters) swinging column represents a broken building column. Lucky for us, the building still stands. I found the column’s whisper quiet sway to be hypnotic.
Coffee shop and snack bar located on the first floor of the Jimmy Patterson building. The food is delicious!
