this place is really a jewel! Not only was eating exquisite, but the staff was extremely friendly and friendly. recommend the fatty and the smoked jalapeno poppers, but they can go wrong with nothing on the menu. I love this place. I can't expect all my friends to come home. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Smokin' Oak Barbeque Restaurant, Bar Catering:
The food was okay. Brisket was juicy and delicious. Bbq sauce was bland and tasted watered down Potato salad, phenomenal! But didn't need the olive. Cornbread was so dry! The plate garnishes threw me off... raw onion, pickled onion and a pickle... odd choice The beer choice was okay. Canadian beer is much better. Now let's talk about the 300 flies buzzing around. Figure it out guys... bug zippers fly strips...somethi... View all feedback.
Really great food here! 100% would recommend. I had their Thursday special the smoked meatloaf, which is to die for. Unfortunately I was too excited to eat it before I took a picture. On top of that they have a HUGE selection of beer and liquor. Kids under 21 can eat there until 10pm too, so bring the family!!
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, excited by the smells! Our server was very kind, though a bit pushy on the upsell. We unfortunately had to wait approximately 90-110 minutes for our food to arrive, though they didn't seem ridiculously busy. The portions were also on the smaller side for the price. The food, however, was largely delicious! It's decently good barbeque, but they need to pick up the pace a little bit. We would still go back!
A good bbq joint with really good food, great service and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time we are in town.Food: 5/5
At least the collard greens were good?Customer service was fantastic. It’s a good vibe and other than the old and uncomfortable seats, the accommodations were great. If you’re there to get drinks and hang out with friends, seems like a great place to do it. Nice location also. But if you’re looking for BBQ like back home, I can’t recommend here.I understand (and so should everyone else) that showing up to a BBQ place later in the evening that the menu is subject to availability. But I don’t really think the bar should and neither should the quality of food. I’m terms of ‘authentic’ Texas barbecue, the pulled pork and brisket were average at best. Corn bread needed every bit of honey butter they gave. Greens were good but again, slightly above average. What’s really disappointing is the value to cost ratio. I love a deal but also willing to sacrifice quantity for quality (cost). This food warranted neither. Entirely too expensive for the little portions you get. Can get equivalent or better BBQ at places like Goldie’s for much cheaper.I get it you’re also paying the the experience, but when you love BBQ and are so disappointed you leave food on the plate without taking any home, that kind of feeling kills any experience…
We moved to Vancouver from Portland about 10 months ago and we 're looking for a BBQ spot. For reference, one of our favorite spots in Portland is Matt 's BBQ. Unfortunately, this won 't be our new spot.We heard great reviews so we went to check it out. We got a platter so that we could sample a bit of everything. I tried the ribs first and my girlfriend tried the sausage first. The ribs were perfectly cooked through and fell off the bone with each bite. But there was no flavor. My girlfriend stopped eating the sausage after one bite. I asked if it was good and she told me to try it. I took a bite and my immediate reaction was to spit it out. We agreed that it was horrible. Something was definitely wrong. The rest of the platter didn 't have much flavor. We paid the tab, left a tip and on the way out mentioned to the server that he may want to check the sausages. It really tasted like something was wrong. His answer was basically, there 's nothing wrong with the sausages. We had already paid and weren 't looking for a discount or anything. We just wanted to let him know that two people who eat a lot of BBQ thought one of the menu items was practically inedible. But he didn 't care.
