St. Mary's Forane Church is one of the oldest churches in Kottayam. This premise has a huge area consisting of large parking, Schools, Convention centers as well as church canteen. Even though, the church is in the name of St. mary, while St. Sebastian is another saint in whose name the church is famous for the Athirampuzha Thirunal on January 19th to February 02nd. And it is one of the biggest parishes which comes under Changanassery Archdiocese.

This church is under Syro Malabar.. The forane church of Athirampuzha, a world renowned pilgrim centre of St.Sebastian is dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary.This church about 10Kms away from kottayam has been the hub of Christian life in and around central kerala from early 9th century. This is one of the biggest parishes of the Archeparchy of Changanassery. It consists of almost 2500 families and the total number of the faithful exceeds 10000.

There are regular mass services in the morning at 6am and 7 am.
