Lovely setting, a family-run restaurant, pleasant staff and pleasant atmosphere, try the mussels and chips. Staff are lovely too. Friday evening is good fun and the band are uplifting, but do book, especially during July and August. View all feedback.
What AvengerF doesn't like about VIA CASSIA:
Disgusting, dangerous and obnuxous. Food is disgustingly bathing in oil, be it the steak or the shrimps. You need steel teeth to munch on the steak. Green beans and fries are of the frozen kind. No taste at all whatsoever. Shrimps were beyond pathetic. One was even rotten. Upon telling the waitress how green the said shrimp was,... Nothing! Had to wait 45 minutes for the starter. We ordered oysters, but were then told they only had ONE portion available. We were one of the first at the restaurant [arrived there 12.15pm] so quite disgusted that they hadn't the stock!! So much for having oysters on the menu. We only got served when I complained to the manager/owner. He then in turn personally delivered the main course. My mother and sister had pizza and I had sole mariniere all three dishes were COLD.
We were aware that there would be a firework display at the port on Thursday night, so walked along the front looking for restaurants with a good vantage point. We settled for Via Cassia and were offered a choice of table right on the front, ideal for the fire works and also for people watching. Comparing the menus prices were on par for this location. We shared a Camembert starter and enjoyed it. We both had a 200g entrecote and french fries. It looked good, was cooked the way I like it, loads of fries. However, both our steaks were tough, fat had not been trimmed around the edge. About half was left in chewed inedible bristle. Steak aside we had a pleasant, unrushed relaxed evening in a good setting. Our server spoke good English (having had worked in Wales for a year) and humoured or attempts at French.
Too touristic, to slow, taste is avarege.... Nice placements for the tables but food is not that special at all.
I’m very surprised to see some negative TripAdvisor reviews of the service here as we’ve always found everyone to be very friendly. Samir Cassia and his family have been running this and the nearby, slightly more informal Café Bleu for years and in my opinion they know what their customers want and how to provide it.The food is tasty and good value, with pleasant views of the Med across the marina. I reckon it’s probably the best all-round restaurant (taking into account food, value, service, location) among those by the Port Camille Rayon marina in Golfe Juan. Maybe the friendliness has got to be a two-way thing so try smiling on your visit – but I’d recommend that in all the restaurants round here (or anywhere else for that matter)!
I chose Via Cassia to meet with friends for lunch today. I saw mixed reports on TA about the greeting and service. Today we were met with lots of smiles and a very nice welcome, although we all spoke French, our waitress spoke really good English. We were not rushed at all, even though we were the last in the restaurant. The food was of a good standard, wouldn't say fabulous - but price v quality was about right. The atmosphere/decor very warm which was pleasing on a wet day. Would go back again.
