We stopped here for a late lunch. We were seated on the back patio. We had the house menu which included beverage, salad, bread, paella and dessert. While the food was good and the price was reasonable, I would never set food on this property again. While our car was parked close to the front of the restaurant (see photo), in broad daylight, in full view of restaurant staff, because the front of the restaurant was glass, someone broke into our car, stole our luggage and backpacks. The restaurant staff offered little to no help. They claimed that they couldn't look at the security camera tape until an IT person arrived. But when the police arrived the police were able to view it and saw the car pull up on the side of our car closest to the parking lot exit. It seemed like the restaurant staff was indifferent or actively working with whoever stole our belongings. This was a dark spot on what a been a nice vacation up until then. I feel very strongly that other visitors to this restaurant should be warned of what could happen.

Most of the restaurants in this area were closed possibly due to the end of the season. We just wanted a light lunch and a drink. We were the only ones there, ordering an orange juice (fresh) and a seafood omelette each, the cost of these two omelettes was 20 euros each, so we thought they would be great. No so, maybe one egg was used each the filling was a few small prawns and little else the orange juice turned out to be a Fanta look alike. The whole meal having waited some time for was a rip off, I would not recommend this place.

Having generally been disappointed with the paella we have tried elsewhere on the Costa Blanca we decided to visit the home town of paella El Palmar to try as authentic as possible paella. Without knowing anything specific about this restaurant we gave it a go and we weren’t disappointed. We tried both the local specialities, paella and eels with potatoes and enjoyed both dishes, and being originally from London showed the staff pictures of Jellied Eels (an East London speciality). In addition to the great food we were able to booked a boat trip on Spain’s largest lake (another good reason to visit the area). Staff friendly and helpful and worth noting the restaurant is set up so that it has three different areas, there is the main restaurant area, a separate air conditioned area plus the shaded outside terrace.

It's usually fine, but last time we order crisps and peanuts. They charge 2 € each, same as drinks, and crisps were as scarce as peanuts. They were a bit mean, but they will not every be it again with our family.

We were told by a friend from Valencia if we would like to have the best paella he knows of, we should go there. The restaurant is about 20 min. car-ride from centre city away, but he got right: We ordered two different paellas, one mixed and the other one black and both were the best paella ever. The service was very friendly and the price more than reasonable. It's worth every kilometre to go there for a good paella.Try it out! Bon appétit!
