I'm here twice now and chips were good. had to shut up, but expect that with restrictions and busy times. the prices for chips are the same with other stores. fish quality is good and cod and haddock was good and fleshy. curry sauce was ok. View all feedback.
What AlexJ262 doesn't like about Penguin:
I visited at lunchtime a couple of weeks ago. The service was fast and friendly and the menu extensive and reasonably priced. The chips were good, however my scampi was a real let down. It was extremely dry, rubbery and tasteless. View all feedback.
We ordered some chips for a quick dinner recently for the first time since the new owners took over and they were LOVELY! Friendly staff, fast service fluffy crispy tasty chips! Have also heard very good things about the Indian side of the take away so will be trying this soon!
Great traditional Fish and Chip shop, Serving all the classics, such as Cod n chips Savelois Battered sausage Pies As well as burgers and other treats Friendly and family run.
Best takeaway fish and chips in town, always consistently good, generous portion sizes, also pies pasties sausages etc. Always busy, so that’s a clue to the quality.
First time visit to this chip shop. Lady serving was incredibly welcoming and really lovely. I ordered three kids meals and 2 adult meals all consisting of fish. Unfortunately the Chips weren't very nice and the batter on the fish was soggy and undercooked. Very disappointing as we all went hungry that day; thankfully it was only a lunch so we did get to eat later.
We are regulars here, chips are always hot and crispy and the staff are very friendly. A good selection of fish and pies/ sausages etc available and if you want you can have a full english breakfast
