The venue, with its beautiful old building and tasteful restoration, is perfect for special occasions. From a fantastic Sunday roast to a terrific tapas meal, the food is always top-notch. The friendly staff and stylishly appointed restaurant add to the overall experience. Whether for a quick lunch or a special event like Mother's Day or New Year's, this restaurant is a gem worth visiting again and again. Highly recommended for those looking for a quality dining experience in Faringdon.
We stayed for 2 nights in the huge Court room suite, with 4 poster bed, once used as an actual court room by Judge Jeffries. Fascinating history. Everything was very clean and every need catered for. The bar area was nice and relaxing and staff very attentive. We ate in the restaurant one night, which was very nice, but fine dining is not our preference and we felt the food was very small for the cost. Would like to see a broader more affordable menu. Breakfast was excellent. We had booked on the champagne folly tower tour, which was fantastic. Martha, a lovely member of staff walked us up to the folly tower, unlocked it and took us up, unloaded her backpack with an ice bucket, ice, a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses she had carried all the way, and left us for 40 mins on our own to admire the views, while sipping champagne, which was absolutely fantastic as was the weather. Definitely worth doing. Thanks to Martha for making this such a special start to our holiday. We would definitely return as hotel is newly refurbished in the last year or so and staff are excellent.
We stayed here last Friday and had a lovely meal (terrific tapas! and stayed in the Court room. It was a beautiful and spacious suite with just the most comfortable bed. A lovely courtyard area I imagine would be a lovely space to spend the evening in the summer. The restaurant is very stylishly appointed with a nice mezzanine floor above the pianist. We will definitely be back. If you can afford it, book the suite! It really is a lovely room.
Oh Faringdon....what is on your doorstep??? I've lived here for 20 years and before tonight, only been in the Old Coaching Inn once. Because we wanted to try it out before making a booking for a group of us, we ventured in there this evening. Booked online (easy), a phone call from the Maitre D' were we aware it was a special Valentine's menu?..... We needn't have worried it was just totally delicious. The salmon with wasabi and pea ice cream....a stand out and a dish that has to rank as one of my all time favourites. A beautiful old building with bags of character and really tastefully restored. Great staff.... Faringdon, appreciate what you have a gem!!
Wow, what an amazing dining experience in a wonderful venue! The 5 course menu was awesome, the food deliscious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. The ball room was prefect for the event, we could all see and easily herald the excellent and entertaining speeches. I'll be back next year! Thanks to the fabulous team for this wonderful evening.
Wow visited the Crown yesterday for lunch and it was wonderful !! The staff were all very pleasant and happy to help . The ballroom was beautiful, a great place to enjoy a delicious lunch . Comfortable seats and a stunning room . We chose the A la Carte menu and were not disappointed. The Sea bass Ceviche was delicious and the Hake with Clam chowder was amazing . We had a gorgeous pear/ chocolate/ dessert also . The homemade bread was very nice too !! I felt that £30 for three courses of food which was of a “fine dining “ standard was excellent . We felt it was a real treat and would highly recommend visiting !! Well done to the Chef and staff !! We will be back again .
