This tea room runs at weekends in the Uffington village hall. That however does not do it justice as a huge amount of effort and work goes into transforming the small hall into a vintage tea room. From the furniture brought in, to the bunting and decorations, the music and the aprons and adornments of the waitresses this is a delight. Hand made cakes, I can recommend the Raspberry topple as a particular favourite! Ar... View all feedback.
I visited for the first time today, and the atmosphere is very warm and friendly. Lots of pretty bunting up giving it the feel of a village fete. The tables are beautifully made up with pretty cloths, and unusual teapots. The ladies who do the serving are very friendly; Chris even drew me a little map so I could find my way to Wantage. The only downside is there's no GF bread to have for sandwiches, or soup, and there wasn't any GF cake, but I understand that if they did make GF cake there'd be an awful lot of wasteage. Apart from that it was perfect!
So pretty! A really fun atmosphere with amazing looking cakes and beautifully dressed staff. Lovely coffee and hot chocolate, massive bacon sandwiches, papers to read and freshly baked bread available to buy. Very child friendly, we had a great hour in there. A wonderful addition to the village.
Just a few weeks ago my wife and I with our daughter and her husband visited the newly established Forget me Not Tea Rooms situation in the Village Hall in Uffington run by two local ladies Lucy Palmer and Claire Whitfield. Whilst it is only open on Saturdays at this time during the winter it is a cute and lovely addition to our village offering such delights as breakfast baps with Bacon, Eggs and Mushrooms, excellent coffee, Soups and sandwiches as well as a wonderful selection of home baked breads and Cakes which take you back to the good old bakery days. It is a pity that they are not also open on Sundays which hopefully will develop as it is on our doorstep and is more than a great place to enjoy the good things of life in very pleasant surroundings, served with a smile and in such a pleasant way that makes you want to stay even longer, with newspapers to read and local gossip. This should become a must visit for visitors as well as residents and has long been wanted together with much of the historical features of the Village of Uffington and its surroundings.
After a walk on White Horse Hill we were glad to find this amazing tea room in the nearby village of Uffington. It is in the village hall and decked out in bunting and has a feel of stepping back in time. They have taken great care with all the décor, from the china, the music and decorations. Not only is it a lovely environment to stop a while in but the food is also delicious, We had bacon rolls and they were so fresh and with plenty of bacon. The cakes were yummy and it is all very reasonably priced. We would highly recommend!
Tucked away in the village hall, it's really worth coming here. We went after a lovely walk at the White Horse (5 minutes' drive away) and had enormous plates of finger sandwiches, a very posh ploughmans and 3 enormous slices of cake (for £2 each, bargain). Lovely atmosphere, nice music, pretty 50-s inspired decorations. It was very quiet which was nice for us and while it would be a shame for it to get too popular it does deserve more custom so do go while it is still relatively secret!
