I had heard of this Cafe, but never been until today and it was worth travelling the 30 miles to come to lunch. Easy to find, plenty of car parking, spacious cafe, great service. I was fascinated seeing the chefs at work through the large window behind the counter. Food was excellent my OH had the Ploughman's and I the Carrot and Corriander soup, both delicious. A lovely selection of cake, scones, pasties etc. Good t... View all feedback.
What S3371VWpeterb doesn't like about Farmhouse Bakery Cafe:
I saw big signs that said "cafe and bakery open," so I decided to stop there with my granddaughter for breakfast. Unfortunately, the signs were wrong and the cafe was actually closed. It was a waste of time and petrol. View all feedback.
We were a group of 20+ with a reservation. Some had pre booked high tea which was excellent, others just ordered a cake/scones and a drink on arrival. We arrived in dribs and drabs over about 30 minutes, but all orders were taken and served quickly by friendly and helpful staff. All the cakes were delicious the warm lardy cake was the best I've ever eaten.
Had a cake and coffee very nice will be going back for a bacon sandwich very soon. Staff very friendly and lovely selection of breads and cheese
Very nice. Good friendly service. Visited after having driven past many times and following a reccomodation. We found it a bit loud for us. Will happily visit again. We had a full breakfast and ciabatta with bacon and egg.
Cakes are lovely and I have fallen in love with the tea there! A beautiful café with delightful staff. One lady, I didn't catch her name, wearing glasses was wonderful, playing with my 1 year old while I took the 2 year old to the loo. She was a brilliant server and completely made the visit a real treat! So a big thank you to her!
I’m from the North West originally however, I have been living in South Oxfordshire for 4 yrs now so not really lost my accent. We are always looking around for nice places to eat for when family friends come to visit. I also own a local business. So I often recommend Steventon Bakery. However, I agree with alot of the reviews on here. (Web in general). Ladies it’s a lovely place, very clean nice atmosphere to come the foods fab. However, it’s let down by some very slow service. Our table wasn’t cleared we waited that long today 26th March 2019 that we decided to just leave the pots, not have another cofeee etc pay downstairs. One of the chair legs was broken. Part of that chair was left to one side. I’m only 8 stone it gave way on me. That could have been an elderly person that it broke on, you would have had a law suit on your hands. Anyway, I had my parents with me we decided to buy bread, lardy cakes etc to take back home some to take back up North. My dad doesn’t like display items that are not covered up by glass domes, so I asked for fresh lardy cakes from the kitchen. The older ladies attitude was so rude. I was shocked. She was irate with me for asking, very argumentative and wasn’t impressed that I didn’t want the two left on display. Yes I purchased two for £4 each. I would have purchased more items but my mother said she would rarther not spend anymore money there! This has let the bakery down the young staff are lovely but please you need to be quicker please can we have improved customer service on bakery counter. The customer is always right. I will be coming back fingers crossed this is addressed. I know you don’t have to advertise but you will lose customers with having staff with bad attitudes. If you don’t want to serve the general public then find another occupation.
