**Woodstack: A Culinary Gem in Valdosta** Nestled in Valdosta, Woodstack captivates diners with its exceptional barbecue and inviting atmosphere. Patrons rave about the tender, flavorful meats—especially the brisket French dip and burnt ends, described as the "bacon of the beef world." Side dishes, such as crispy fried okra and comforting mac and cheese, complement the main courses delightfully. The outdoor seating provides a relaxed setting, ideal for families and pets. With friendly service and generous portions, Woodstack emerges as a standout among local barbecue spots, leaving visitors eager for a return trip and new menu discoveries.
I went here for one reason alone and that was because they serve burnt ends. Not sure what burnt ends are? The best description I can give you that it is the bacon of the beef world. I also had some of their St. Louis spare ribs. Both meats were very tender and had an excellent smoked flavor. My one side was brussel sprouts with bourbon honey glaze and the other was the mac and cheese. The brussel sprouts were a little on the sweet side and the mac and cheese was nothing special. They have a nice happy hour from 3:00 to 7:00 though. Our server did a great job and the pricing was lower than some other barbecue places but I would say that is because portions were slightly smaller. There's plenty of other things on the menu I'd like to try, so I'll be going back here next time I can. Maybe I'll see you there.
We also tried the half-baked chicken with two sides. It was the juiciest chicken with a rich smoky flavor. The sides included fried okra, which was well-prepared with a nice batter and a hint of coarse salt, making it crunchy without being greasy. The Bestie sandwich was another highlight, and we ordered loaded tater tots with it. The pulled pork Brunswick stew was intriguing; we got a large bowl that was packed with pulled pork, Lima beans, and vegetables. It had a delightful taste with a hint of vinegar. The stew was excellent! We tried the two-meat combo with pulled chicken and sausage, along with sides of mac and cheese and roasted okra. Everything we had was delicious, and we are so glad we stopped here!
We had a delightful meal today in the outdoor dining area with our puppy, Conor. We chose the brisket French dip, and it was amazing! Thank you, Leisa!
We ordered a variety of items to take home. The smoky flavor in the meats is quite pronounced, which might not appeal to everyone, but I found the brisket and pulled pork to be excellent. The whole fried okra was a refreshing departure from the usual cut version. The mac and cheese and beans were also quite good. They have burgers and a complete menu with many other options worth exploring. One advantage over the BBQ competition nearby is that the side portions are nearly double the size! We will definitely return.
