Having had numerous meals accompanied by really po... read more We ate here on one occasion at lunch time. The owner (presumed) was the factor that made the difference here. Having had numerous meals accompanied by really poor unfriendly service in other restaurants, it was very refreshing to find the owner genuinely happy and welcoming. The food was tasty, with some good local produce.

We followed the reviews on Tripadvisor and had the most wonderful experience! The young woman who owns this restaurant simply could not be more friendly or welcoming. She named the place after her dear departed mother who ran a restaurant on this spot for over 40 years. Each day, the chef/owner selects local ingredients according to what is fresh and delicious in the season. Then she sets about preparing the recipes for the evening. The food changes every day. There is no set menu, but every bite is heavenly! We were presented with a huge bowl of steaming, freshly made potato soup with hunks of beef and carrot. Obviously the stew had been cooking for well over an hour. . . tender and with amazing flavors. We also shared the typical Spanish version of a Russian Salad . A big dish of what I would call really well prepared potato salad with tuna. . . yummy! I asked for just a glass of red wine. A fresh bottle from Roja was put on the table and opened. Just drink as much as you like and that is how you will be charged . The wine was so wonderful, we paid for the bottle and took over half with us. . . along with half of the enormous bowl of potato stew. We paid less than $27 US and had two splendid dinners. . . along with excellent wine, beer and dessert. Very, very highly recommended!
