A nice cosy room (costing 40 euros) with a shared bathroom, ruined with poor ventilation, a smell of tobacco, and a suffocating smell of wood paired with paper thin walls and floors that allow you to hear every word uttered in every corner of the house, including the kitchen directly beneath you and the loud Albanian pop music they play at various times throughout the day in the bar below. Great food ruined with incredibly slow service and small portions. They seem to prioritize restaurant guests over hotel guests, bringing us nothing (not even water or wine) for over 40 minutes before finally bringing us everything at once including our main dishes and appetizers all together. I ordered the lamb cooked in a wood oven with potatoes for 14 euros, but was served only one potato cut in half and half a grilled pepper. They brought me two pieces of lamb, one of which was mostly bone, the other was almost entirely black and burned and tasted like fire and fish with almost no meat on it. My girlfriend ordered the trout for 10 euros, which they fish from their own pond, but was served only half of a fish along with the head and tail to make the plate look a little more full, with no rice, potatoes or veggies to accompany the meal. Note: she also got food poisoning from the fish and has felt sick the entire next day. We had to order more food at the end to fill ourselves after the long hikes and ended up paying around 60 65 euros to be fully satisfied. Great location with a nice view ruined by the loud music, loud children and loud electric generator they turn on sometimes, paired with the lack of places to relax after a long hike only dining tables. We came here to relax and switch off after a long couple of days hiking but had nowhere to enjoy some peace and quiet on the hotel’s grounds maybe it’s only a good location for families. The only comfortable seating they had, consisting of two small sofas and a rusty table with a dirty marble top, seemed to be mainly for staff. When we sat there one of the staff members went well out of his way to ask us to take our feet off the table, which I would understand if it was clean or used for eating, but just seemed unfriendly and unnecessary since it wasn’t. Overall, while the main host of the place was very nice and friendly, the rest of the family/staff seemed annoyed by our requests and did not come off as welcoming or friendly. The place has a lot of potential, and might be enjoyable for large groups or families, but we found it too expensive for what it had to offer compared to other guest houses in the area. Worth noting also is that it is quite far from the start of the hiking trail to Theth while I might consider coming here again for a fancy overpriced meal, I would definitely not bother coming here again for accommodation.
