Very good restaurant with an attractive atmosphere. The food was excellent and prepared with a lot of love. We really liked and enjoyed it and we will definitely come back.
Well done, great meat, best wines, excellent service We celebrated the Xmas their, and I can tell you it was great experience to try the Goose, If happens to be there make sure you order the Ribeye medium rare. And try the French Red wine with it.Lovely service as great chef
Nicely decorated and large rooms, lighting is quite ok and cosy, the welcome was efficient, if not super-friendly. We are being led to our table through a walkway, where left the kitchen lies behind glass windows, to the right a ledge where a selection of salad bowls waits for the buffet-minded gourmand, complementing the anti-pasti selection that stared at us right at the entry. Most of the salad bowls are low on content, bits and pieces of greenery decorating the space between the bowls. The same picture presents itself half an hour later, and remains constantly sad until our departure two hours later. We order our food, soups, filet de boeuf, linguine al limone and stroganoff with noodles. I had wanted to try the Fastatsch Burger, but when I could only choose between medium-rare and well-done (the kitchen could not do less, the service lady said, like rare, as I like it), so I skipped that in a heratbeat to a Stroganoff. The specials would have been Pata Negra beef, 200 g for 69 CHF and a 300 g Texan T-Bone for 78 CHF. Seriously strong prices which even in Zurich would rise the odd eye-brow. The service lady is nice enough, but obviously in charge of too many tables. The male server dealing out the soups remains wordless and anonymous, even after our greeting. I would have wished the same for the soup, to come and go away unnoticed, but unfortunately the Griessnocken in one of our soups apparently came right out of the fridge, with an icy core. The promised Siedfleisch (broiled beef) turned our to be minuscule cubes, and the vegetables were equally small and thus, irrelevant to add much to the salty broth. When the soup dishes were collected we remarked that the Nocken had been cold, but this went completely uncommented, our complaint was not acknowledged. Decor I do not value too high, so its absence was not too taxing, but I still would have wished for the tables sets to form a rectangle rather than a twisted rhombus. But it kind of matched the wrangled serviettes which looked like dark cauliflower munched over by a herd of cattle. It pains me to write about the Stroganoff. Despite a very good meat quality and tender bites, the sauce was just brown gravy, sprinkled with grated beetroot and pickle, bellpeppers a definite no-show. The announced wide band-noodles turned out to be standard 5mm noodles, overly dry from sitting under a heatlamp before delivery for much too long. Apparently the beef filet was rich and tender, but the spouts apparently had a very metallic twang to them, something this particular veggie is not particularly famous for. At least, the linguine seemed to be ok, if somewhat unspectacular. It took ages then to get the attention of the server to get our bill and when we left and we were once again paraded along those sad, neglected salad bowls, we were glad to say a last goodbye and take to the road, not to return before the next millenium or a change of kitchen and management, whatever comes first.
Contrary to the many positive feedback, I would also like to express myself somewhat critically about the restaurant: Although the portions are more than big enough, the restaurant offers very little for people who don't eat meat or fish and at high prices. The meat menus can be presented more beautifully/invitingly the colors of the dishes appear rather monotonous and the plates are overcrowded. The staff is averagely motivated. The price performance ratio is ok, but rather poor for the open wines.
