Recommended fish cuisine. The restaurant in the most important harbor for the Swedish regatta sport offers good fish dishes. Particularly tasty is the Matjes appetizer very tender and full bodied fish. But even for non fish lovers, the kitchen offers refined recipes for an evening out on the island.
This restaurant should be your first choice if visiting Sandhamn and you want to savour traditional Swedish food of high quality. For our dinner we had homemade herring as a starter and perch-pike as a main course. The herring was fantastic but the perch-pike lacked a bit of flavour but was otherwise fresh and well cooked. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic with great recommendations for dishes and wine together with attention for detail. She was a true professional and very friendly at the same time. The interiors are beautiful and well kept and the walls have probably many stories to tell…

The oldest restaurant and pub in/on Sandhamn, should be on your must do list. Upstairs is a dining room with a wide ranging menu and expect to have to book ahead, on the ground floor is a pub with a smaller menu, that most will find more than meets your needs. All diets are catered for to a degree, vegans will struggle. The mains and starters we had were great, the fish casserole possibly the best I have ever had. Who knew that pickled herring could be so good. The only disappointment was the pud a caramel cake served with a great vanilla ice cream, the cake element was, for me a little too dense. But still enjoyable. An amusing thing is that Google asks about free or paid for parking even valet parking on an island with no cars or vans. I like AI that 's not yet got that.
Classic Swedish cuisine right by the Sandhamn marina. Plenty of outdoor seating during the warmer months. No reservations needed but there might be a queue on sunny days.
