What Padmini Vala doesn't like about Kalyan Cafe:
Once a very good cafe, is still in business because of its old reputation, I guess. The place has lost its charm and the food has lost the taste. Or maybe a number of new places with better options and better taste have come up. The pizza meow (for some reason not mentioned on the menu) used to be better.
The Manchurian and fried rice were also below average. We went there on a weekend night and other than our group... View all feedback.
This is the legendary outlet for people of Vadodara. Some places do not have to be the best but the memories and bond you share with them make them the best. This is exactly what Kalyan Cafe is to me. Ambiance- The simplest ambiance for a Cafe, more like a college Canteen which is what depicts it's ambiance. Expect high chairs and tall tables. 3/5 Service- Kalyan used to be excessively full at one time but the number of customers have decreased and I found it empty when I went. Service was quick enough and the host was friendly especially when I told him of the nostalgic memories I associate with this place. No complaints. 5/5 Food- The food quality has been degrading over the years. It is still decent but is not exceptional as it used to be. Nachos- A very ordinary plate of Nachos which you can get anywhere. Nothing to remember taste wise. 3/5 Masala Dosa- Again an ordinary Dosa. 3/5 Will I come here again? Some places take away the marks due to the love... read more

Kalyan Cafe was considered to be an adda for most of the Barodians since past decade which has now remaining an empty house with hosts waiting for guests. Well, I guess food hasn't been changed except they have regularly upgraded and included more variety of items in their menu. One thing will always be remained in a corner of my mind - it's ambience. It's not great to look out for, but being an old cafe in Vadodara, it has maintained its ambience, table arrangements as it is since years. I always like most of its food - especially its sizzlers. Kalyan Cafe has been serving sizzlers since when no other food joints were opened to serve continental food. After a long time, on my last visit I remembered my old days while I used to come here and the items I used to order. This time, I was craving for something new to try and looked upon the list named "new arrivals". I gestured in and decided to order Tex Mex Burger. It took almost 10-15 minutes to arrive to which I would call it a bit late. Now, Tex Mex Burger was not a usual burger we use to have at any regular fast food center serving Burgers. It was quite different. But it's preparation was interesting. It wasn't that spicy and that what attracted my taste buds. Really delicious food and I'd say it wasn't a bad order. After finishing off my food, I was asked by it's owner if I did enjoy my food. That brings me to say service was nice too. So not at all a bad choice to go to an old cafe to churn out some really smacking food there. Worth next time visiting.
