The chips were cold and undercooked for some reason, despite the shop just opening. Paying £11.50 for fish, chips, and curry that was cold is unacceptable. The cooking skills need improvement, as we were lucky not to send it back.
I am shocked by the inconsistency in quality at this takeout restaurant. One night they serve delicious fish and chips, but two weeks later on a Friday evening at 5pm, they sell a terrible version of the same dish. The large cod and chips seemed to have been sitting out all day, cooked well before my purchase. The batter was hard and overcooked, and the cod had a terrible taste. It seems they may have been reheated multiple times throughout the day or even from the previous night. Unfortunately, even my dogs refused to eat it. If Edwards cannot improve their quality on a busy Friday evening, I have little hope for them. I recommend avoiding this place and saving your money. I regret not taking a photo to show how unappetizing it was.
The fish is consistently delicious, especially with a reservation. Unfortunately, the fries leave something to be desired. It's a pity because the service and fish are excellent.
We had cod and chips and it was brilliant, really enjoyed it and price was very reasonable. Will definitely be going back.
