Recently taken over after a long period of difficult management and poor service. The transformation is amazing. It is a pleasure to, once again walk in to the pub and to be welcomed and spoken to. Outstanding food, had the venison burger on my last visit, absolutely top notch. Tried the risotto which was lovely. Friendly staff and good beer. What more could you want View all feedback.
What UKTerry doesn't like about Black Horse Inn:
Unusually, for us, we called in at the Inn for a mid week lunch. There was only one other small party having lunch and the usual staff were not on duty. The main course menu seemed limited, compared with the lunch time Saturday menus that we had seen previously. Fortunately, our sweets of Chocolate Brownie, and Brandy Bread and Butter Pudding both with Chocolate Ice Cream were excellent and impressively presented. View all feedback.
Terrific food. My vegetarian son ordered a Special Wellington suffice to say we 3 meat lovers had a fantastic roast lunch but all PREFERRED his meal!! As good as it gets ...
What a place. food is 6 stars! best thai red curry on one visit and stilton and steak on another. well done to the team there.
Visited today with our 5 year old, the service was fantastic and the food was possibly the best roast I’ve ever had. Definitely be visiting again, even gave our son sweets at the end for his good manners
Delighted to have our village pub back at last and above all, to see that it is actually open 6 days a week now! Jamie, the chef, is working really hard to provide good quality food and to come up with ideas for theme nights. It is also good to see the friendly owners, Paul and Mel, who are often there to see how things are going and to have a chat etc. They seem to be open to suggestions and the menu has already been adapted to cater for the needs of some of the regulars. I love the lunch-time sharing platter, which offers a choice of delicious items along with Ciabatta bread, salad and chutney. The curry nights are also good and a lot of effort went into preparations for recent theme nights such as the Sausage evening and the Hallowe'en barbecue. Have yet to try the Sunday lunch but they are already proving legendary! The ambience inside the pub is warm and welcoming but I feel that the outside is not well lit or signed adequately to suggest to passers-by that the pub is open! A shame, as I believe that many others, aside from the locals, would enjoy what the pub now has to offer. Perhaps one or two teething problems with staffing, but I am confident that they will be resolved over time and generally, the young staff who are in the process of being trained, have been excellent. I will definitely come back as often as I can.
Spent an evening in the black horse at beginning of Oct despite being rather jet lagged I enjoyed great food , friendly staff , Cody and relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
